One of my customers would like to buy a domain listed on afternic. However, the listed minimum offer is about twice what she wants to pay.

Any suggestions for dealing with them would be appreciated.

Contact them through whois email if available and try negotiating a bin price.

Probably has to do with the 20% commission the seller has to pay to afternic, if the min is $500, the seller would have to pay $100 and be left with $400, you should ask your buyer what is the most they want to spend.

Might want to advise your customer to think of raising the budget. I have several listed with Afternic that I wouldn't even sell at the minimum price, but many listed on Afternic and Sedo are "Dreamer" prices.

Not knowing the domain, you have to use your best judgement if it's overpriced or not.

Find out the most your client will pay, then send an e-mail (grab Whois information) or call and negotiate a price.

As mentioned above, keep in mind that the prices asked on those sites like TDNAM, Afernic and Sedo are often lowball prices so they get inquiries. I've offered the asking price and been told they wouldn't sell for close to that low.

It all comes down to how badly your client wants the name.

If the listed Min offer is double what your client would pay - I might recommend finding another domain. I don't sell at my Min Offering price. Just a reasonably place to start (IMHO).

Thanks for the suggestions. I almost never pay more than reg fee for my domains so I have this mental block :) However, the fact is that for a successful Realtor, $1,000 isn't that big a deal.

Hi,

Call Afternic.

State your case.

You may find they are very willing to negotiate.

Call 866-351-9586 or 781-839-7990.

Its listed on Afternic (not necessarily NameMedia that owns it) Although this may be the case. I know they do negotiate, ususally 20% without blinking an eye.
