Do I use the root index or the one in the template file?

Agreed. Nothing to review. I do hope that you get rid of the "entrance" page after you figure out how to put ads into the BB. Good luck!

Yes you can put the forum in your root directory.

I like the entry page myself,forum theme isn't bad either, but you should have your own logo. personally I quit using phpbb quite a while ago because of all their security flaws. I've found smf easier to work with and more secure.

someone needs to update ASAP else ur forums wont be around for long. Lots of secuirty issues with old versions , i sugges first u update ur forums , than build theme on it.
