Need Tablet Advice

I really want to buy the iPad - however, it is quite pricey.

My second choice is the Kindle Fire - apparently it won't stream in Canada.

Can anyone recommend a tablet that is good quality - but not as expensive as the iPad?

Thanks :)

Don't know if you got a tablet yet, but I recently got a Pandigital SuperNova and love it... it compares favorably to the Kindle Fire and is cheaper than an iPad. The SuperNova has an 8" capacitive screen, wifi, bluetooth, two cameras, .. you can even add Amazon Appstore and mine came with Amazon Kindle and Zinio preinstalled. Others have added Android Marketplace tho I haven't found the need to do so yet..

I have got a Sony tablet and its really great. It has a built in PS1 with Crash Bandicoot as standard. As an old time gamer I think thats cool

Its has all the great features.

It really, like buying a computer, depends on what you think you'll be using it for.. if you're going to use it for emails and reading books, you won't need to spend the big bucks as some of the cheaper tablets do quite nicely in that department.

I love my Pandigital SuperNova.. does everything I need it to do at less than half the price of an iPad or Samsung Galaxy. Even outperforms the Kindle Fire (except screen resolution) in my opinion.

I highly recommend the ASUS Transformer:

They have a new model coming out as well that will be even more over the top. Note the keyboard is optional, but adds additional battery power and closes nicely like a clam shell if wanted.

This tablet offers all of the same features as the iPad, but already built in (such as HDMI port, memory expansion slots, front and rear cameras, etc). I think you can get the Transform 101 for around 400 now days. I got mine on sale during Black Friday for 250!

Here is a review for anyone that stumbles on this post later on: http://phandroid.com/2012/02/16/asus-transformer-prime-review/

I just recently got the Blackberry Playbook, have to say I'm in love with it. Although I'm a massive fan of Blackberry's products so I'm a little bias. As dgridley said it would really depend on what you're using it for. I mostly only use mine for email and social media on the go.

Most people who buy tablets end up using them less and less as time goes on.. A good smartphone will perform the majority of the same tasks and be more convenient because of the smaller size.

I like my tablet for games, reading, email, Facebook.. all things I can do on my PC as well.

So, with that in mind, I knew paying $500 for an iPad would be silly (for me)..
