So I recently picked up some more names, the idea behind these mainly traffic/keyword based domains. Each of these names has an exact keyword match of 2000> based on my research but that's as far as I got.

I know that I could park them, but I would rather cut out the middleman and monetize them myself. Any tips?
One of these names has a very high CPC but only if the clicks come from India? Almost $100 cpc for clicks that come from India, again I am very new to this so I may have jumped the gun but I figure its a small price to pay I only got 5 names anyway just to try this out.

    The names are

    freehockeystreams.com

    rentalcarsspain.com

    companiestax.com

    plantswater.com

    demoaccountforex.com

A combination of common keywords will not bring any visitor to your domains as these domains have no history.
So the only way to monetize them is to build up at least a minisite with unique content and related seo optimization.

It is very difficult to cut out the middleman if you choose to use an ad feed from one of the many ad providers. And any returns will be small.

The best ways to cut out the middleman will require some work. One recommended way is to create money sites. These are sites with sufficient content and quality that are approved by adsense. Then put links to those sites in your landers. Another is to put links to affiliate sites or afilliate product pages. Yet another is to get subscribers. And still another is to create your own product that you can link from your domain landers. Of course you can combine these methods. If the domains get the traffic then your income will be significantly better than parking.

Shameless promotion: We have created a service, Megalander.com, that allows you to use the methods above to create custom landers for your domains.

Some of these names do have some age to them but no backlinks or anything like that. Again I am new to monetization. My only experience with domains is reselling them by auctioning and reaching out to end users.

My question was more really about how much can I expect to make per click from ads, in comparison to just parking and if it will be worth my time in this case.

Any suggestions? Which one of these names do you think has the most potential?
I am really just looking for someone to point me in the right direction here. I already have some ideas but just wanted to see what some of you on here think...

You will not see a difference. That's what basically parking is. What will make a difference and worth your time is what I listed above. The adage you get what you pay for can also be applied to you get what you spend time on.

    Right, I understand.

So developing>parking obviously. Of course a site that is ranking due to content will get more views so even if the ads are the same It will have more views which will = more profit.

In the mean time as I try and pick which one to work on first, what is the best parking service to use to test out and see if I can make some $ while my domains sit.

My advice would be to save your money. Get the best domain you can afford. Create a money site. Then use whatever revenue to acquire more domains. You can register 10 new domains for 100 dollars or you can acquire a much better domain for 100-200 dollars on the aftermarket. It is important to remember that revenue is not determined by volume of domains but the quality of the domains. One good quality domain can generate 1000x the revenue of 1000 poor domains.

So to read between the lines, in your opinion none of these names are worth developing?

I can't recommend one parking service. Some parking companies do better with certain domains while others do with other domains. You have to try them out. However, parking revenue will be dissapointing and take a lot of time to find the right balance. So either way, you will have to dedicate time and effort.

Sorry, all I can see is "incoherent" combinations of words, not exact keyword match domains.

Not in my opinion. Find a domain that will inspire you and push you to work harder. Remember, Jeff Bezos had printed Amazon.com in large letters and put it above his desk as he was building his empire. It, the domain, inspired him and he knew he just had to build it into something big. Now we can't have a domain of such callibre but having just one domain that inspires us can make us build something great. Whether that is building an e-commerce site or a domain portfolio.

The rental car one might be worth developing as a regional play. The rest are garbage.

surely the forex and hockey-streams have potential? idk tho. i'm completely new and confused by all of this.
Dom, would you be able to elaborate on how you personally are defining a good domain?

From what i gather, you're talking about one with history? so does this mean backlinks? i read online that after a site drops, its backlinks slowly get removed. Any chance you can point me in the right direction for gaining a better understanding of this?

    Thanks

@TonyTsolakis some of your names have a distinctly European or Indian subcontinent flavour. Spain is a particularly popular holiday destination with inhabitants of various Northern European countries, so car hire is a popular service. Hockey - not ice hockey but hockey - is a popular sport in both Europe and India, take a look at Olympic medal winners in the sport, for instance. Demo accounts in FX are popular too. There is probably some advertising mileage there.

Michael Gilmore does some online, very short, courses on monetisation. It may be worth your while to sign up for a free account at https://mcl.club/. I have no connection with it but I did take a look once and it does appear to have something to offer at least. I can't say if it works because I haven't got around to developing any sites yet and I won't find time in the near future.

If you are keen you should at least give it a go. You can get hosting for next to nothing. If you're going to make mistakes, better to do it on a poor domain and learn the hows and whys, rather than beginning and making mistakes on an expensive one.

But if you know anything about any of those topics, you should stand a good chance of at least breaking even. You've already bought the domains, so use them. Or at least one or two of them. Start with the one you feel most competent to write about.

@evil "So the only way to monetize them is to build up at least a minisite with unique content and related seo optimization" Exactly right. Your minisite should present visitors with a PROFESSIONAL design template and logo. Consider paying. $ 50 or $ 100 can pay for things that will make your minisite stand out from the standard. Total strangers need to be coaxed into your círculo de confianza mate. Look what you're going up against https://taxfoundation.org. @TonyTsolakis "Which one of these names do you think has the most potential?" I think COMPANIESTAX.COM. "Companies tax" in U.S. google monthly searches 1000 and cost per click is high $ 13.57 -:- "Companies tax return" gets searched less than 500 times each month but the C.P.C. is $ 11.96" If you get companies tax clicks the likelihood is a tidy payout. The other names are stretching it but all of those subject areas have customers and all of those customers have problems they want to solve. You need to find solutions but only to problems suffered by enough people or it's not worth your effort or time. Back to companies tax. Build your website for a target group and not just any old joe. What type of companies? If you target U.S. what part of America? What type of tax? @Domlogix "If the domains get the traffic then your income will be significantly better than parking" Yes. "Yet another is to get subscribers" You can try to build a subscriber list and EASE ads in over time. Follow two principles 1- Observe the LAW. 2- Provide QUALITY material. Learn about your SUBJECT, AUDIENCE, PRODUCT. Consider hiring a professional tax specialist copy writer. Maybe tax is too complicated for you. @Mike Goodman is spot on the money "Start with the one you feel most competent to write about" that's why I's suggesting you hire a professional copywriter with special area knowledge of companies tax. You will undoubtedly have more questions so keep asking mate. GET STARTED.

@redemo its all good when you say to put more content, but even if he does can he even monetize it with an ad company. Success rate for monetizing a site with Adsense now would be low and not sure if its even worth the effort to make 20 websites only to have one make money.

@thegeekguy "can he even monetize it with an ad company" Yes mate. https://www.sage.com/en-us/support/affiliate-program. https://www.quaderno.io/affiliates. https://www.e-file.com/affiliate-program.php. https://turbotax.intuit.com/corp/affiliates.jsp. https://www.freetaxusa.com/affiliates.jsp. https://www.bark.com/en/us/affiliates. https://www.xero.com/us/partner-programme. "Success rate for monetizing a site with Adsense now would be low". There are many ways to monetise a website. Adsense is definitely one of them. Find out more https://support.google.com/adsense. "not sure if its even worth the effort to make 20 websites only to have one make money". Operating twenty successful websites starts with operating one successful website. This is the best course of action for @TonyTsolakis.

@redemo Getting affiliates sales from organic traffic is super hard. Most of the keywords that lead to sales are occupied by major websites. There are keywords that exist but its major challenge. Its probably easier to just put your money in doge coin and wait for Elon to say something stupid.

I had several affiliate site before that made money, I was under the mercy of a major search engine that decides to wreck my traffic every few months. I don't want to discourage anyone since I know people make it but its not easy.

"Getting affiliates sales from organic traffic is super hard." Your argument may be valid mate but it's subjective in its current form. Can you quantify your argument?

View this image for super hard https://www.teamusa.org/-/media/TeamUSA/Paralympics/Archery/stutzman_matt_2016_1440x810_Updated.png

"Most of the keywords that lead to sales are occupied by major websites." Again it's a subjective argument mate. Give you an example right off the bat. U.S.A. right now. I'm going to google usa and look on the news page for events happening soon https://www.google.com/search?q=usa&source=lnms&tbm=nws. From page one team U.S.A in Tokyo and airlines re-opening are interesting. You register teamusanews.org or teamusanews.net and start developing a news website. Ads are anything with the American flag. There's search volume and very few dedicated competitors. Same for airlines re opening. You could register fromtheairlines.com and develop a website with news about each airline when it's reopening and what the restrictions are. Ads are flights, airport parking and airport hotels.
"There are keywords that exist but its major challenge." Again subjective.
"Its probably easier to just put your money in doge coin and wait for Elon to say something stupid." Elon suffers Asperger's Syndrome. Give the guy a break. He's also a genius. I love his interviews.
"I had several affiliate site before that made money" What changed?
"I was under the mercy of a major search engine that decides to wreck my traffic every few months." If you mean Google there are many other sources of search traffic. Change search engine or dance with the devil.
"I don't want to discourage anyone since I know people make it but its not easy." When MANY people make it but MOST don't the generally held view among the MANY is the one you hear most often repeated.
Hard is never impossible mate. Good conversation. Cheers.

I had one site make 50 dollars over three years with adsense. Depending on the niche adsense is kind of a waste of time.

@Jason Baudendistel "I had one site make 50 dollars over three years with adsense. Depending on the niche adsense is kind of a waste of time" Was that domain name worth keeping? $ 50 over three years would cover your .com re registration fees.
