Need input on Site

Hello!
Im building http://giftideas.ws

Basically a Gift Ideas Website
and having trouble on deciding what pages should I include, or should I just focus on the occasions?
also what you think about the layout?

I like your design. The header fits perfectly wioth the font you used for your page title.

But there are two thing I would change completely:

1. You want to sell something. But google adsense and amazon dominate your site. You are sending your visitors to your competition!!!

2. I would show for each category one example, one gift, which catches your visitors eyes and make him hungry to see more.

3. If you do not want to throw out adsense and amazon then put them at the bottom of the site, after your own categories and pictures.

Make this page a page full of entertainment for the visitor. Let hiom have fun discovering all the lovely gifts you have to offer.

I hope I was able to express myself in english in a way, that you can understand what I mean. In German it would be much easier.

Keep the design character of the page but change the layout and the content.

I agree with dysak that adsense and amazon dominates your site very much. It looks like visitors are coming here just for adsense and amazon and not for your site at all .. I like the design too but its a nice idea to show some description of gifts on the main page too just to attract visitors

Nice top banner, but the contents area, looks kinda broken in my 1440 resolution, needs a footer. The vector graphic rox!

* Site is for sale, so competition on adsense is no problem (I develop, than sale)

I like the general look of the site. The only thing that really bugs me is that the width is way to big IMO. Without some kind of sidebar i think it needs to be thinned a bit. Makes the text streched out and look like its a LONG sentence. I would also ad another para graph or 2 to the front page, better for SEO imo. Other than that the design itself is pretty cool and clean.

I saw that but you are not getting it right .. See when we open an e-card site we see a single card for every occasion as a sample ..You can add some gift related to birthday as a sample with it on main page and so on..

I looked at your site again. I would move the two occasion colums into two sidebars and put some nice gift pictures as samples at th place where you have the occasions right now.
When I open a giftpage I expect first some sample pictures which catch my eye and then I would look for a list of categories.
