Need help

Hi everyone,

I tried to find on this forum about protection stuff from spammers on forum.Cause i try to develop one forum site,using legal IP.Board software,but it don't help to hold spammers away.I have Enabled Captcha + Enabled User Email Validation,but it not helps 100% because some of spammers comming through. Each day i'm deleting at least 5 new accounts of spammers.Is out there any software which can protect forum from spamers or not?I was found projecthoneypot.org is that any usefull stuff? Any help and suggestions are welcome!Let's keep spammers down!

You say you have email verification turned on? Yeah they may still be able to create an account (captcha is someone easy to break usually). But spam accounts will never verify email accounts, so the accounts might be there but they can't post so really not much harm done, just once a month or so, go through and delete all unverified accounts.

If its the names of the accounts that are inappropriate consider setting up filters that would filter out the names as well.

Work if you set it to load as no so people have to choose Yes.

What version are you running of IP.board?

there's no perfect solution to keep spammers away, it's a forum fact of life, because these spambots are initiated by human as well, that's why you need to hire moderators/staff to help you out clean the forum.

I run IP.Board 2.2.1 version it ws updated this year.

Yeah,i agree.And will try in near future to hire some staff to help with it.Now,on my forum I have started showlist of spammers and mailservers names,where coming most spammers from,that other ppl can find spammers and block them and hope it helps to get rid of them. :hehe:

on phpbb i used the forum prune since these spammers/sex/spambots tend to post a thread just anywhere on the forum with no replies at all and on vb i use the moderate new members option but requires you have staff since it's very work concentrated i think there's counterpart in the forum software you're using.

Thats what i used to do.

Dare spam my forums, I'll shame your name, IP, Address, everything.
Just make sure you put it in the TOS
