I am tryingto backorder a domain name with Godaddy, but it says..

Update Failure: XXXXX.com is not available for Backorder


What does this mean? Has somone already backordered and only one person can?

What do I do?

You are correct, the name has already been backordered by someone, only one person can hold a GD BO.

does that mean if godady wins it they get the domain? or is their an auction, and how do i do it.

If GD gets the name, they get it, no Auction... but chances are GD wont catch it if it has any true value.

You could try to catch it via eNom's Club Drop, a bit more costly but a much better capture rate, eNom usually beats GD BO's.

Does Enom have an auction?

Also, turns out, you can't backorder a name for Godaddy within 5 days of a drop. Thats why it wouldn't work.

eNom does have an auction, if 2 or more people are after the same name it goes to auction.

I'm 100% sure you can BO a name at GD at any time... I know I have BO names which we're like dropping the same day.
