Need advice on RSS feeds

Please explain briefly what is the use of RSS feeds and how we can promote them to drive lot of traffic?

There are directories of RSS feeds you can add them to. Feature your feeds prominently on your site so you visitors see you have them.

I believe that Google takes the number of subscribers you have to your feeds into account. If you have a larger number of subscribers they may view your site as more useful than another.

I think you need to worry about RSS feeds if there is lot of content added in your site everyday, and many people have subscribed to your rss feeds. Then you will get traffic from the people who have subscribed to your rss feeds.

Normally, I think we should block the Google Bot and other SEs from indexing the RSS feeds. As RSS feeds can create duplicate content problem within sites.

their are two methods one is you can get rss feed content from other site to your site so search engines index as fresh content and brings traffic
if you have a blog you can submit your feed to rss feed sites where you get backlinks and traffic this also helps indexing very fast
