This is an existing website business, with a membership base.
Currently the website has 382 Model Portfolios and 98 Photographers. Last year about 500 members were deleted for inactivity and the site is getting new signups despite no advertising.
The website is designed to allow models and photographers to interact, and post jobs etc. The features of this website are listed below. All the programming is custom for the site. This is not a template website, and there are very few competitors in the market.
This website comes with the domain names, nationalmodelingdirectory.com, nationaldirectryofmodels.com. There is a third domain associated that also comes with the website, it is mymodels.name and it has to do with one of the unique features of this business.
Users can sign up for free and create a profile. Many users are lifetime members ($500.00). Models can create portfolios and if they buy a membership (through paypal) then they can have richer profiles and have access to contests, forums, etc.
Users can write articles and post them. They manage their own links pages and can see casting calls etc, as well as post announcements and befriend other members etc. Bookmark members, set travel notifications... there are certainly features I'm forgetting. It's very powerful.
All the portfolios have a social networking plugin which allows them to be shared from the website to: Facebook, Twitter, Stumble Upon, and over 250 other popular online venues. Users click and share directly from portfolios to virally promote the NMD portfolio. Portfolio images are displayed via a standard gallery with thumbnails and there is also a flash gallery plugin for a more interactive experience. Cool Iris is also on board and availabe for those who use it.
There is a Hall Of Fame for picture awards and many other features. Photographers and agents have similar tools. There are also resouces for them to access listing for hundreds of national agencies, photographer etc.
The administration area allows the admin to:
Assign more admins, control all the settings for image sizing etc, set users for a features rotation to appear on the front page, add documents through a GUI interface (TOS and all that), create and manage all the articles submitted (they must be approved before they appear on the site), FAQ page is a smart GUI database driven tool (there is no programming required to do anything, the whole site is browser based with tools for everything), email all members (in groups too), add/manage the resource listings, manage the open calls and job ads, Manage the third party advertising, select Hall of Fame winners, run monthly picture contests and choose winners which are automatically posted and the awards show up on member pages, create and manage forums, brushing tool for selling digital retouches to members, set all the picture categories (portrait, glamor etc.), set standard comments for members to send to each other, create and/or manage member announcements which appear on the site, view and manage user links pages, define membership packages and all the features each package is entitled to, financial report of sales tool, picture rating tool, a running thumbnail page of all picture uploads appears for scanning and deleting inappropriate content while also single clicking to distribute awards, list members tools for both models and photographers, ability to change member packages upgrade/downgrade etc.
I put every decent feature I found on other sites in this one and plenty of original ideas. The only thing I never got around to doing was setting it up so members could login using their Facebook ID or other social media ID's, but maybe some owners would not like that. I thought it would be neat but it's not in there yet. If you want that, I can do it after the sale. I can also host it for you for a small yearly fee, or at least host it for as long as you need to move it. I own my own servers. I'll work with the buyer to make sure you don't have any headaches.
The mymodels.name domain is for a neat feature which allows photographers to embed a search code to their own websites and display the model search results. Photographers can promote the directory and book jobs for the models and also have the appearance that they in fact have a large directory of models on their own site. Photographers love this, and it compells them to list their models with NMD so they show up. The search tool is completely comprehensive, hair color, bust size, whatever you might imagine... it sorts them very well for browsing the directory on the front end and on photographer pages.
This website responds very well to promotion, even a small budget can attract new members easily. The site is not being promoted now, and I need to liquidate some assets. I have dozens of online businesses and I cannot give my time to all of them.
I spent tens of thousands in design on this. The asking price if very fair for a real quality site. Let's face it, most sites for sale are junk sites. This is a diamond in the rough. I'll be happy to offer support after the sale. I love this website, as you can see, I worked for years to make it awesome.
