Registering a name and then trying to think of a business to build around it will never work, do it the other way around
Think of a business that has potential, make sure there is a market for the business, make sure you have the capital required, etc etc,...then think of a name and buy the domain.
A lot of new domainers buy a name and cant sell it an then think "What can I do with this domain?" That way of thinking will never work.
Again....I just luv your challenge. I've had both success and failure throughout my business life, but I can tell you you're just wrong. Granted, most of the time I've started with an idea first and then came up with the name, but in this case the name came first, and VOILA! the business idea followed. Here are names of 6 different businesses I've owned and came up with their names,
Credit Control Corporation (started it in 1973 and it's still in business),
JudgmentScore(tm) (trademarked the name, but could never get the funding),
InQuisitorInvestiations (great ame for this business that located people who skipped out on their debts -merged with another business),
National 1099 (a specialty tax business I started in 1986, and it's still in business today),
Acsel Corp (stupid name I came up with for a Medical Billing Business in 1978, however we paid an advertising firm $2,000 just to agree with the stupid name I came up with because they couldn't come up with one any better...the business is still in business today, but if I were the new owners, I'd change the name in a heartbeat). Finally, the latest business I've started is
"FirstCarMemories", LLC, and while I haven't put together a formal business plan, I was able to outline a simple business model on a napkin, and that includes my logo design. Thus the idea for building a business model around the name,
"NapkinBusinessModel"
Thanks again for issuing the challenge... btw, have you ever started a business of your own? Named that business? I'm just curious.
