I recently purchased a name that was registered with namesbeyond, and I am trying to set up an account with them to have the name transferred to me.
I cannot use the website to set up an account, I am required to email them with my information. So I've done that, 3 times. The seller has tried to initiate the transfer twice now.
I called them to see what was up. Their first toll-free number went to a fax machine (loud noises!) and the second number was answered on the 8th ring by an Indian lady who simply answered "Hello?"
Here's how the conversation went:
Me: Who is this?
NB: Um...this is...NamesBeyond?!
Me: Ok...I need to set up an account
NB: You need to set up an account?
Me: Yes....
NB: Ok, you need to set up an account for domain names, you are wanting to buy a domain name?
Me: No, I purchased a domain name from one of your customers and need to set up an account to transfer the name into
NB: You need to transfer a Domain name to Namesbeyond?
Me: No, someone is trying to transfer a domain name to me.
NB: Ok, you need to email us
Me: I already have, 3 times
NB: Oh, you have already emailed us. <pause>
Me: Yes...
NB: Well I need your name and phone number and I will definitely follow up on this.
<gave her my info>
Me: Do you need my email address too?
NB: Thanks you for calling <hang up>

So, I'm not feeling too comfortable with this company right now. It just doesn't feel right. It felt like she was given a script of things to say if someone called this number.
Has anyone else dealt with this registrar?
UPDATE: Well, she certainly did follow through, and I am now the proud owner of LUY.mobi
Such a strange process though, but I guess everything is going to be alright.
