I am requesting that the Moderators consider to change Auction rules depending on outcome of the poll , when it closes on October 4,2016. It will be interesting to see the Poll data.

I am requesting that the time after last bid should be a maximum of 72 hours after last bid Placed, if no bids are placed with in 72 hours then the person with highest bid should win auction.

None of the 90 hours or 102 hour or 120 hours or 150+hours after last bid type of stuff

If you agree please Like, or share your thoughts. Mods? Comments? Thoughts?

Anymore thoughts from other members?
I argee with you, a 72 hour cap is frankly more efficent.
If NP had made a rule since the beginning that all auctions must have a 72-hour cap, everyone(well, almost everyone) would have gone with it just fine, but since the freedom has been given, it cannot be so easily be taken away. (Unless something really bad happens.)

Thanks everyone for your feedback and votes. I was just curious to see member thoughts and opinions. To me a 72 hour cap is perfect time, as allows the auction to be atleast 72 hours and with any bids it ususally turns out being 5-7+ day auction, as with 120 hour , 150+ hour auction can go on for weeks, and longer auctions can discourage members to participate , like myself. But I understand and i see other side and views as well.
Thanks for participation in thread and for voting

There are so many spammy awful domains in the marketplace here that will never get a bid of even $1. So getting exposure on an auction can be very, very difficult. Sometimes a thread is bumped and within 5 mins it's off the first page. Longer auction times can help give more bumps.

Namepros provides freedom and will not get involved in the amount of time a member wants to set for their auction. Everyone has a choice to participate, and with most auctions being $1 increments even with 72 hours you can keep an auction going for weeks, especially when you have two members out to break each others' stones, I bid on a name years ago and the other person kept waiting til 71 hours 30 minutes to bid just $1 more.

Thanks equity78, I thought there would be mass support of 72 hour cap. I see that there is not, and is currently about a 50/50 split on idea. My thoughts and views are different, as I hope you can respect them as i respect everyone who like running long auctions.

it depends on the auction really, not everyone of them. If I am in an auction I would want it to end in 72 hours, but if I'm not in the auction it could run to kingdom come and I wouldn't care. lol.

Hi

IF and that's a BIG IF......., sellers want to "move" their names, then it would be prudent to end the auction at a reasonable time.

this way you can get paid and the buyer can take possession.

to extend an auction for weeks is absurd, especially when you start it @ $1.

i mean how much value do you really place on the name and how much confidence do you have that the domain name is worth more .... when you are auctioning for one dollar?

i see hundreds of threads, "BB accepted dokkiesquashhly.com" for sale $1 start".... is that what it's come down to now, getting accepted then auctioning for $1?

to me, the shorter the auction period, the more an interested party will pay attention to it.

when it's 2-3 weeks or more, folks tend to forget, go buy another name or they just don't have time to wait around, especially for low level, less than mediocre names

my time has a value, what about yours?

imo....

To be honest with you Biggie, that's how most auctions on Namepros are run starting at $1, those are the auctions that get the most bids and usually run the farthest.

The buy it now set after a bunch of bids usually helps speed up the process, I have always believed and included this in the Namepros seller's guide, that once the bidding velocity slows down then you should add a buy it now, the most interested bidders will usually buy it then, unless the buy it now is much higher than the highest current amount.

Sure I get where you are coming from and like I said I was in an auction on a name I really wanted and it took weeks, here is the thing not being mentioned, someone could always raise their bid higher, you don't have to just increase it by $1. There are plenty of members who come in and start jumping bids $10 or $20 when they really want a domain, most don't they are afraid they could have gotten a domain for just $1 more instead of $10. Raising the increment shows you where the interest is at on a name. Usually you will shake out all the other bidders, if someone jumps your bid by $10, then you will know the domain is in demand.

To speed things up the seller should place a buy it now.

You more or less echoed my earlier post with your first post but as I said, it's a pretty safe bet to make that there won't be a 72 hour cap. Though no doubt the feedback will still be looked at by the powers that be as it's always welcomed to help improve the various areas of the site, whether it be auctions or otherwise.

I've also had bid jumping happen in some of my auctions though and it's ended up winning them the domain, it's a popular tactic to scare off low budget bidders and one I'd encourage if you want to increase your chances of winning a name & shorten the overall length of an auction. Especially if it's one you value, plus it'll also help the seller get that little bit extra.
