Namepros Lottery?

I was sitting in live chat thinking about.. uhh random stuff, and then thought about having a np$ contest. That thought grew to np$ lottery. Why don't we have one? I think it would be fairly easy to orchestrate. For example:

First Np$ Lottery

Entry fee: 5np$

Say 1000 people enter, the winner recieves 5000np$. Or we could choose 2 winners @ 2500 or 5 etc etc.

How names would be drawn I do not know, however If interested I am sure I could come up with a suggestion.


I just think this would be a popular thing here @ np. What do you all think?

Sounds like a good idea, but how about 10NP$, because it's unlikely we'll get 1000 people, and that would be VERY messy. A PHP system could be made, and it wouldnt be all too hard. Great idea, I'd definetly enter

How often would the draws be, every week? How many ticket could we buy? Will there be a limit of say 5 per week?

its been done and its failed.. NP lottery has been brought up more times than I can count.. a few people even have some NP lottery sites.. but all failed.

I've been considering having a "manual" lottery in the Contests forum, where people who would like to participate would send my account NP$, then I would keep a log of who submitted a "ticket", and have someone else randomly draw a winner based on that.

I think the reason NP$ Lotteries failed is because they weren't official. A lot more people would enter if they were official and built into the site here.

I think there also may be some legal issues with running a lottery with NP$ because you can buy NP$ with real money. If the NP$ system was totally self-contained and weren't able to purchase NP$ with actual money then it would be okay, but I'm pretty sure there's at least a gray area when it comes to running lotteries, vBookie, etc.

Hey yes! You are right. It sure will be a big problem. Use of Domain NP$ will be good as it isnt convertible but there again its hard to convince!
