Hey, domain sellers! 👋

We have a special surprise for you.

Continuing from last year (and last week), we have some exciting updates to share with you about NamePros Parking Landers!

First, consider this:

You price your domain name at $2,500. For years, hundreds of interested buyers want to buy it, but the price is too high for them. They don't even try to contact you because they don't realize that the price is negotiable or may change. Years later, you decide to lower the price to $995. How many previously-interested buyers would buy it at this lowered price? You’d never know — until now!

With our new Buy Now options, you can finally contact those previous buyers to increase your sales opportunities. 💸

Here’s how:

Our landers have an option that requires buyers to confirm their email address before they can see the price. Once confirmed, the price is available to them and their email address is available to you. Simple and effective. Learn more on DNW.com.

  • Exports: Download a list of your domains and their settings, customizations, and inquiries, including buyers’ email addresses, offers, etc. (CSV format.)

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Is this for legal reasons (e.g., risk mitigation)? It's been discussed publicly by respected domain attorneys that adding "may be" does not have any real impact in that regard.

I had a conversation with one of the top UDRP attorneys today. I asked him this question point blank. He specifically stated that it's actually helpful to say it's "for sale" and that a blank page with "may be" or just an email is actually more harmful when it comes to UDRP. He said it is a benefit to show that you are selling the name in good faith and the name has myriad uses outside of the singular use a UDRP filer thinks you nefariously registered the name for. So... a for sale shingle is in no way harmful and actually helpful for dictionary words (so long as you aren't hanging a shingle on made up words such as Realtor, etc).

Yep, heard that before, as well.

Never seen an attorney say that it helps to add it, but there is a common belief that it does.

Thanks for sharing!

Yup, he specifically said helpful. I asked if it would be better for me to show a blank page with an email & phone. He replied with what I mentioned above. Be honest and open. There are myriad uses for dictionary words - and you're legitimately trying to sell to those customers.

What you do not want to do is place marketing copy that shows a use case for any trademarks you find. So for example, if you own the dictionary word "tide" you would not want to discuss laundry, cleaning, etc. But you should hang the for sale shingle and market to, for example, boaters as a potential app for tides (coming in and out 2x per day), scuba divers, fishermen, ferry boat companies, etc. And in fact, he said it is even more helpful to have proper marketing copy and logos rather than just a for sale sign. If you decide to add marketing copy, be sure before you add copy that you research any TMs and do not market to segments/categories where any TMs exist.

If the page were blank and/or not for sale with just contact info the examiners may assume your only reason for registering was to sell to Tide detergent. But if you're actively and legitimately marketing it for other legitimate use cases that have to do with the dictionary word - the examiners are more likely to find you didn't register the term in bad faith. And intended use is one of the key things the examiners are trying to identify.

Makes sense to me. Thanks NG. 👍

Is this in regards to removing the "Offer" field from the page?

Just double checking.

Its all connected.

A name that doesnt show "domain is for sale" and doesnt have "contact the seller" but instead shows the domain name +contact owner for inquiry
and doesnt have an offer option is a page that gives different vibes.

for me, it helps me shift the conversation to different places
Agreed, "owner" is better when that's the case.

"Seller" was chosen because brokers also use our service, and we need to use a word that represents both types of users.

Cc @Skyvisum @domvault @Mister Funsky

if its not difficult to add the option to edit these texts would be the best.

All depends how complex it is and what other more important tasks are out there.

I'm interested to hear - what "different places" are you trying to converse about if not selling the domain?

Extracting more value from it.

Two ideas/suggestions:

1) Temporary URL for privately agreed price:
Lets say there is a BIN and the buyer makes a compelling argument for something close to the BIN and I agree. Instead of changing the public BIN to the agreed price where all visitors can see I would like to create a one-time URL for that buyer which leaves the original BIN public. I will inform the buyer of this and hope that it creates some urgency to follow through with a payment.

2) "Under Contract still accepting offers" notice on the domain:
If someone has begun the purchasing process I dont necessarily want to take the domain off the market but I do want notify any other visitors that this domain could be sold soon. Sort of like selling home where we (at least here in the US) can still collect offers even while under contract. The buyer understands that a sale is imminent and may not come to fruition for them but gets to place a name and offer just in case.

Re #2 - I like the concept, but jesus, how many offers are you entertaining?! I'm lucky if I get one offer a year on a name... you're busy trying to set it up so you can placehold the others while you negotiate with one!

Since moving my ~380 domains to this platform (mostly during August) I've received 6 solid BIN offers which I have replied to all of them. Also, several dozen confirmed email "inquiries" which I have also replied to - trying to start a conversation.

None of the offers, nor the inquiries, have come to fruition but I am trying to think ahead. I am not aware of other platforms having these features so it could be used to stand out among the pack. Also, anything I mention in the way of ideas or suggestions is always and "on/off" switch in our profile - no one should be forced to use it.

I would like to request adding a discount. Either dollars off or % off. It could be shown something like how Atom shows their discount(s). Also - it should be global in nature (I could offer 10% off all my domains, or $200 off all my domains, e.g.). Or of course, I should be allowed to also discount each separately).

Atom has done extensive testing and showed that discounts increase STR. Obv other industries use discounting and sales as well (because it works). It doesn't have to be exactly as shown (verbiage could differ) but you get the idea.

Interesting. I wonder if their results have changed, as I have previously heard Darpan say that a warning of a price increase actually works much better than a discount for increasing STR ('i.e. buy now before a scheduled price increase on xx/xx/xx'). With that said, I see this is a time-limited discount, and I suspect that works much better than just an open-ended discount. Perhaps there's not much difference between warning of a price increase, and providing a time-limited discount. And possibly the discount feels better to the buyer. In any case, I'm sure the time limit is the key.

Not sure if anyone asked for it, but is there an option for a simple lander with no buy now or make offer?

Something simple that doesnt even say the domain is available for sale?

Only

1) domain name
2) contact owner at email adress _________________

or

1) domain name
2) contact owner form - name+phone+email+message and have an option to add text next to the name like "serious inquires only"

Sounds like you want something like this: https://introvert.com/?domain=favor.io

This is another one, although you could remove the "for sale". https://domains.available.forsale/refine.io
Both clean looks

My question is about Google analytics, I've noticed as many others many views from bots, in Pages and Screens tab I see 'visited' domains and some of them have random subdomains like 'dev' or 'gemini' (see pic), apparently these visits are by bots and I assume it's on NP side.
Is it possible to filter such visits out of overall statistics? Thanks.

Bot traffic is unrelated to NamePros because we don't have parked domains listed anywhere.

Bots learn about your (sub)domains through backlinks, registry zone files, etc.

We've had a couple requests to help filter out this bot traffic since Google Analytics isn't doing it sufficiently, but all existing technologies to filter out bots are imperfect. Unfortunately, that means that if any service (including Google Analytics) filters out bot traffic, then it will also erroneously filter out some human traffic.

Is it possible to filter such visits out of overall statistics?
We're exploring the best ways to do this since even Google, one of the most technically-competent companies in the world, is struggling to do it effectively. This is the case for all services because it is currently impossible to filter out only bot traffic.

Note: It's easy to do it poorly where you also filter out a lot of human traffic, but it's more challenging to do it in a way that minimizes those false positives.

We'll figure something out. :)

@Bravo Mod Team You may use the existing CAPTCHA to mark traffic that is most likely human traffic. When a user completes the CAPTCHA, create a unique token for their session. Track these tokens to see which interactions are most likely human. You can even combine this method with some more advanced fingerprinting methods that may be already used by you.

Agreed, but there is a caveat:

Each time reCAPTCHA is unsure, it shows a CAPTCHA that must be solved.

Human visitors who do not intend to complete the form are unlikely to solve that CAPTCHA, which means their visit would then not be logged as having occurred.

Thoughts?

Please DO NOT add a captcha to the landers. We will lose traffic
