Hey, domain sellers! 👋

We have a special surprise for you.

Continuing from last year (and last week), we have some exciting updates to share with you about NamePros Parking Landers!

First, consider this:

You price your domain name at $2,500. For years, hundreds of interested buyers want to buy it, but the price is too high for them. They don't even try to contact you because they don't realize that the price is negotiable or may change. Years later, you decide to lower the price to $995. How many previously-interested buyers would buy it at this lowered price? You’d never know — until now!

With our new Buy Now options, you can finally contact those previous buyers to increase your sales opportunities. 💸

Here’s how:

Our landers have an option that requires buyers to confirm their email address before they can see the price. Once confirmed, the price is available to them and their email address is available to you. Simple and effective. Learn more on DNW.com.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
This is one reason I've favored having the domain names actually resolve on the domain name itself instead of a common url structure that's easy to block sedo.com/ afternic.com/ etc...

Efty and Dan etc... allow the domains to resolve to the actual urls, these days maybe Dan doesn't work as well on that as previously due to SSL issues though.
Yes, that will partly reduce the risk of blocked pages, or even the entire forum.

Additionally, there are other methods to consider, such as analyzing name servers, IP addresses, or using deep packet inspection to monitor page content in real-time. The possibilities are endless.

There will be an option soon to show the price first.

They do offer this one option, but their landers may be inaccessible to millions of potential buyers, which is the last thing you want if your intention is to sell your domains.

While they can temporarily unblock themselves with enough effort and time, there are big organizations like uBlock who will work just as hard to repeatedly block them.

That’s fine for ads, but if you’re trying to sell your domains, it could cost you sales.

Also, they have less than half the features that we have when it comes to for-sale landers, and we are adding new significant features every month.

I agree. But showing the price first is paramount to me - so until that option is installed, I remain with Bodis for some of my landers. I have had sales with them - although, perhaps due to blocking, lower than they could've been. Hard to say. Bodis landers are serving nowadays at least.

Are there any of you who have NP landers on all or most of their domains? I would like to do so but I am discouraged from the fact that I have them listed on Afternic & Dan and if I use NP landers on all my domains and one of them is sold on Afternic/Dan, the commission will be 25% instead of 15%(which is now that the nameservers point to Dan). What I have done on my only 2 domains using NP landers is to increase the BIN price by 10% on the above marketplaces in case they are sold there and not on NP but potential buyers may see that e.g. on Atom the price is lower than on Afternic/Dan... I'm saying all this because I received an inquiry on Dan on 1 of my 2 domains that has NP lander and I would have preferred if he had made the offer through NP lander due to commision.

I've got over 1K+ names pointed to NPs.

I've got a couple still at Dan and not many more than that pointed to Afternic. All names are listed on both those marketplaces to keep dirtbags from listing them.

All leads I've had (and will get) thru NPs I give the option to purchase the name from whatever source they would like...they just have to pay the extra commission. So, if they want afternic and I've told them the price is 1,000 (thru NPs landers), the cost to process thru afternic is 1,300.

why not Custom Checkout?

"commission fees for Custom Checkout Link are not dependent on nameservers"

I made a counter offer and have not received a reply. But anyway, it is not convenient in the future to keep changing nameservers and wait for some time until these changes are shown. (sometimes while I was changing the nameservers, in whois the old ones would show even a few hours later and then Dan would say I don't qualify for the 15% commission) I wish he had made me the offer through NP. Anyway I will probably point my domains to NP and do what Mister Funsky does.

I've used that option and it works well. The question is: After Dan is retired, will the 'checkout' link still be available at the lower rate?

Of course I'll offer the best financial options to my buyers as long as it is a major marketplace (Dynadot, Afternic, Sedo, etc.)

Use Afternic; same thing. Send the lead to them and get the 5% charge.

Yep, that's what I said above. It's 5% with checkout link.

If you 'send' them the lead and a broker gets involved, it will be 15%, 20%, 25% or 30% depending on nameservers and/or whether boost is activated or not.

ADD/EDIT: To keep this post on topic, Namepros option is 0%.

Blocking by domain would be a rudimentary way for these organizations to do it. The more effective way is for them to block the IP addresses associated with those companies. That's easy for them to do.

If their IPs are blocked, then it won't matter if the domain resolves on the domain itself or redirects; it'll still be blocked.

I still prefer when they resolve to the actual url with no provider shown.
We expect to have an option to not redirect the domain very soon, for aesthetics. :)

The trick is to not commit to a price. Guide the buyer toward the amount you want, and when you are ready to accept it, then change the nameservers before you accept.

For example, you can use loose language like, "I'd most likely sell for $15k." Then, they have to get confirmation from you before they can proceed to the payment step.

You only have to change the nameservers before they receive payment to get the lower commission. It's an automated process that is checked once payment arrives, not before.

We hope that helps.

Although this approach is rationally logical, there is a risk that after numerous observations of parked pages on the redirected destination URL, volunteers may tag the main forum domain anyway. Those volunteers, who may not be interested in the forum’s primary purpose, might only notice an abundance of parked pages on the domain, so they will tag it as being another parking provider.

That should be easy to appeal and resolve if it happens.

Not always easy, because such lists can be persistent in distributed configurations.
As long as we're aware of it quickly, that won't be an issue. If we don't notice it for a while, then it'd still only affect a small subset of systems that are poorly managed and not updating their caches.

It's not really about caching, it's about engineers copy/pasting lists. Compare with e.g. bogons and RBL configs in SMTP servers that, once configured, can remain unchanged for a long time.

Yes, but a few months ago I had a chat with an agent from Dan and whois still showed Dan's nameservers and not the default nameservers of Godaddy (I had forwarded a domain to NamePros). I had them changed for a few days) and if I didn't send a screenshot of the DNS section of Godaddy showing that the nameservers didn't point to Dan, they would think I was qualified for 15% commission instead of 25% (I wasn't stupid to give myself away, I didn't have a lead, I just wanted to check what they would say. I mean, I'm not sure that the nameserver changes will be shown that soon. Please see the photo below: at first I was told "It shows you are currently pointed to Afternic's nameservers. This qualifies you for the 15%" and then on my encouragement they looked into it further and said that I didn't qualify for the 15% commission.

Anyway, I certainly can't prevent a buyer when they want to buy a domain of mine with a BIN, which is why today I pointed my domains to NamePros. (by the way the process could not be easier and faster!) I will just have to increase the price on Dan/Afternic due to commission
