I have enjoyed this board a ton. But lately i think kids are posting the url around the teen boards. Jr please start bouncing the people that do nothing but bring down your valued name. When someone posts i have this for sale.... for this amount . Please start bidding at this..... then you get nothing but i will pay you 2 bucks ...... or your not selling anything worth that. Keep your option to yourselfs as they arent only running your business into the ground but everyones. I havent seen a decent price for domians or businesses even with income from this board for long time. This is turning into the walmart of the internet. Now the kids are saying this is good , well maybe for today but tomorrow brings the time you need to sell your hard built site. Or great domian name, and the same people that have no money will trash your thread and you will be crushed when they offer you 2 cheeseburgers for your work. If it says 50 bucks no matter what, that mean 50 bucks or shut your mouth, dont aim people asking for there traffic sources and if they will help you for free. people do this for a living, and the people that work nights for 5.25 an hour come on here and act like they are experst at valuating things. I ask for change around here , please post remarks....

I just caught up with your thread, webuyhosts. We could have acted on it sooner, if someone (preferably the thread starter) had reported the matter earlier. Our delete and warn buttons are just a click away, so just report bad posts instead of arguing. That way, we all have less stress, your sales thread stays clean, and we get rid of the junk that much faster.

By the way, there are lots of talented kids around here, and I've banned enough adults to know that age is not always the underlying cause for misbehavior.

i agree with webuyhosts, i have to admit do doing this a few times before but i do not mean to put the people or say your work sucks, i say my honest opinion, and then people think i am saying you suck at this blah blah... You asked for an opinion, i gave you an honest one, and then people come back and say, stop posting trash replies etc. If you cant take the heat dont post your work. And these days people are getting things dirt cheap, so all the domain n00b's like me dont know the value of domains so i am sorry if i have made some bad posts in the past, i try to keep a positive attitude now.

We tend to be more lenient in the appraisals and review section, as we welcome all feedback, both good and bad. The marketplace area is a different matter. People should have more sense than to crash into sales threads.

Leaving a comment is appropiate in the appropiate section, IMHO. A sale is a sale, if you would like to talk about the price with the seller or you would like to voice your comment about it, you may jolly do that in private message. There's absolutely no reason to do it in the public to devalue or affect the chance of a decent sale. Most of the time, the owner of the domain will reply to your comments in private. Just like you might want to sell something expensive and I'm sure you'll not like someone coming to you saying in the public "Hey, your domain is way too expensive. I will buy it if you're willing to let go for $2!" though you know it is your true effort which is definitely worth that $50 you're selling. Spare a thought for the sellers, try putting yourself in their shoes. :xf.love:

Flora.

I do agree with webuyhosts regarding the "etiquette" and "professionalism" issue. That's why I think it would be better to have a Teen Zone type of thing, where this can be more accepted between other teens. Right now, some "young adults" or even adults may not realize the level of professionalism they are expected to demonstrate. This in turn may cause many problems that include thrashing of sales threads, with an apology after a mod PMs them 2 days later. It's hard to fix reputation, and thus things like the above should be avoided somehow.

My 2c's :)

Here is an observation in the time I've been here.....

- This forum does have more teenagers than most others I visit.

- However, this forum has less personal attacks and ego problems than most others I visit.

Conclusion: This forum has a great staff that keeps a proper balance in the community, and a great core of members (regardless of age).

That doesn't mean things can't be improved. They can. They should. Having a lot of young members creates some issues, but I'm very impressed with this place overall. :)

I suppose I should make a comment or two here sense I represent the other side. NP is a great place for everyone to go. The teen generation certainly can be cheap and rude at times but I've come across my share of adults in the past that even I have had to scold for making rude remarks or throwing me a ridiculously low offer on a good name.

Just wanted to point out here that I own a teen board (not necessarily sure if I was in the mind of the thread starter at the time of the post) and I don't share this place because I know the average teen can't handle themself properly here and most of the ones I know don't even conduct any sort of business online - let alone actually know anything about domains.

That being said, I don't think you could restrict by age because IMHO it not only hurts the good ones who do help, but also lowers NP a bit. Now, it's ultimately up to the staff here at NP to decide. However, as said above, if you use the report post button things get taken care of around here or at least that has been my experience.

By the way, if you think it's bad here, head on over to WHT. I'm sure at points in the past teens and immature adults have outnumbered adults 2 to 1 over there. That's why I've basically quit posting there and I was fairly well known for a long time.

I can understand what you are saying, sometimes I feel very old too :) but Amstrong has a strong point, just use the "Report Bas Post" option and let the MOD's do there work :]

To all those that were never teens (or aren't now), please raise your hands! :gl:

Staffโ„ข is constantly, continually, and tirelessly discussing ways to continue to make Namepros the VERY best that it can be, IMHO. An active, informative, efficient, productive, fun, and mutually respectful Forum and community is obviously the goal at all times ... and particularly at times - such as now - of heavy growth when we have to try extra hard to make this a reality! :gl: :xf.love:

Thanks for all the support and kind words here - and to those that have PM'd and sent us "Private-to-Staff" posts, etc. as well! If at ANY time there are folks having "issues" - with teens, 30-something's, Geezer's (like me), or even green, pink or purple people  - PLEASE contact Staff*โ„ข and we will act accordingly! :talk:

If you're new/newer here to the site, teen or otherwise ... and you're perusing the "Marketplace" areas ... THINK before you post! If there is any doubt in your mind about whether or not the post could be interpreted in another way than its intention - or if you're not posting as "sold" - please send us a new note at "Private-to-Staff" (no one can view or reply to this thread except for you and Staffโ„ข) in advance of that post(s).
Thanks folks, and thanks for staying cool! B-)

See you soon.
-Jeff B-)

why does every body blame everything on the teens? have any of you people ever been a kid once? I think the is stupid, teens this, teens that, there are more of us that keep our opinion to ourself then say it in public, but when just one teen sais the wrong thing, everyones on our behinds, just because one teen ruin's it for the rest of us, it doesnt make us all "unprofessional". Thats why I think it would of been best from the start if no one talked about their age. I think we should all forget about this, and just report all the flammers

Most of the people that are on the net the majority of the time I'd say are teenagers.

Anyway, yep, there's a great balance, I'd carry a conversation with anyone on this site.

No problem, I can understand your frustrations.

There is a similar thread regarding this matter in the forum, and I tend to agree with it. I believe Name Pros would be much better off if it were a private forum (Perhaps a small membership fee to weed out those not totally committed to the business).

I belive that everyone has a right to be here, If any problems, They are not always caused by the teens, Those who do get caught are mostly teens though.
This seems to be giving teens a bad name, I don't think that this is right. If trouble is caused by a teen then they are in their late teens.
I am 13 years old and I am here to trade NP$ for things to make my websites popular, Like paying people to post and my aim for the NP$ is to register a domain for my site.
This is why I am here, I don't know about anyone else but I think I am respected here for who I am, A teen.
