and the problem?

/sick of TM related posts.

Yeah. Me too. But they'd go away if they didn't do it.

I don't care when Bob Noone registers "TMish.com" to put up a website and make a couple of hundred $. I get a little miffed when a registry "holds back for reserve auctions" TM infringements.... and then when a registrar picks up those reserved and sells them...

Why do I care?

Because Bob Noone pays more than REGFEE for a domain from a "trusted source" and then ends up losing them. Who makes money? Yes. The registry and the registrar. Who loses money? Poor Bob.

I'd love for someone to claim unfair selling practices and get their money back.

Anyway. I'm bored of it too. No more from me.

IMO, we need to hammer away at the TM issue because cyber- and typo- squatters hurt our industry.

We need to root out these black-hatters and expose them to the light of day. Until we do that, our industry will retain its lousy reputation.

If you don't like it, then don't read or respond to these threads.

It is obvious not said enough because we see it happen here every day. There has to be some filters or some program put in place where you simply can not register a trade mark domain. Its the "gray" area that would be tough to filter.

You're right about the "gray areas" being difficult to monitor/filter, which is why a quick TM check on the part of the registrant would be wise.

However, you all know darn well that the obvious TMs would be easy to filter. Their filtering systems work just fine when it comes to finding generics and TMs for their auctions.

Back to topic.

IMO, this .me auction is too little too late. Some of the names are head-scratchers, and I'm wondering why they were ever reserved.

>me

some of these names are one that were failed/unpaid auction domains rather than reserved by registry. At least one was in the auctions last year and appears to have not been sold.

Looks like they are sorting out the chaff from the grain and possibly testing the market prior to releasing some more valuable keywords/hacks later in the year.

That second one is the name of one of 888's online casinos - not formally tm'd afaik (looks like there's an abandoned mark), but the intent is pretty obvious.
