NameBright is playing games with it's Bulk Search Tool :-/

The tool has always been a useful one, letting us check the availability of up to 5000 domains at once

But lately it's been providing super misleading information, saying that domains which are actually available, aren't available..

Here's a list of 28 domains Iv'e used as an example:
agdronemag.com
bardrones.com
bkkdrone.com
boozedrone.com
brandrone.com
busdrones.com
davisdrone.com
dronebouy.com
dronecabal.com
dronedoon.com
dronedrain.com
droneflik.com
dronegroan.com
dronehills.com
droneita.com
dronemeta.com
dronesups.com
dronetesla.com
dronetoweb.com
droneuhire.com
engidrone.com
howdrones.com
idronespy.com
idronet.com
jasadrone.com
mmcdrone.com
picbydrone.com

So when I enter all 28 names into NameBright Bulk Search, it completely rules every domain as unavailable, see below:

Untitlesad.png

Okay...but when I take those same names over to any other Bulk Availability checker, it says the complete opposite, it says that the names are infact available....Iv'e tested it on OnlyDomains, Name.com, and GoDaddy and all 3 have come back with the same response of the names being available to register:

Untitled.png

Only one is listed as unavailable. But the rest are all good and ready to be bought

Makes me wonder...how many times have I entered perfectly good domains into NameBright which could have totally been available to register, only for them to tell me that the domains are taken..probably have missed out on plenty of good names because of this

Maybe it's because all the domains contain 'Drone' as a keyword, and maybe NameBright picks up on this since Drones are a popular niche and so they want to keep all these names for themselves incase they see any value in them...hmm I'm not sure

Just took me by shock a little bit, it's a tool Iv'e been using for ages, one that I thought was a trustworthy one but not sure now, thought I'd share this with all you people

What do you guys think? All feedback is appreciated :-,

IMO they are not hijacking your searches, temporary connection problems to the .COM registry or something more likely. Happens from time to time everywhere. Whois isn't perfect.

the first 2 show up as available when I check them with single check on namebright. With bulk check no domains are available.

Did they did drop recently? Maybe bulk check does not on rely on connecting to the central registry server. Makes sense because they have only limited connection and resources available.

It is possible that because they were recent drops and they don't check in real-time and rely on a database instead that they haven't updated the data. You could wait a few days and check if they show up as available with the bulk tool. If yes, it's either a bug or the data simply doesn't get updated in real-time.

Namebright has shown everything I've searched on bulk check as unavailable for a few days. Names that are in fact available and that I've reg'd elsewhere. I'm guessing it's a glitch.

Mine were all recent drops, so I think you're on to something.

Ah I get that, I tried last week with them and was having the same problem, and tried again today and it's continued

Yeah they're all recent drops, so you're probably right that's probably why
hmm a bit inconvenient for anybody looking to manually dropcatch a list of pending delete domains as soon as possible after they drop
Oh well :-,

Uniregistry is real time (I think) and up to 1000 (or was it even more).

hahaa there's a lot of bad attention about them going around right now, of how they'll hijack a name you've checked if they like it before you can reg it, don't really trust them, better not to test the theory

Iv'e found another pretty useful one that works through a Google search, 5000 searches daily

Have you used the export tool? I just checked a list of about 800. Showed 600 reg'd and 200 available. I wanted to analyze the 200 so I exported. But all 800 showed up as available in the file.

This worked great. Thanks.

Wish it didn't have a 5000 daily search limit, but that will suffice most of the time.
Ah no worries, Maybe try using a VPN every time you hit 0 to refresh it back to 5000, might work :-,

Oh also if you'd like to exctract all the available domains it finds into a list, this tool is pretty useful for that

It seems that the problem is just with fresh drops

This is usual Issue between Registrar and Registry

like try to search any dropped .biz domain,
Godaddy will show unabailable till 24 hours from drop time. (they are not allowed by .biz registry...)
but dynadot will show those domains available immidiately....

Registrars never want to lose customers by showing domains unavailable...
but Registry guys are obviously playing games...

I had confirmed with Godaddy regarding .biz issue.
They told me that "Godaddy is not allowed to register .biz domains till 24 hours after droptime"

(this is for dropped domains only)

Hello all,

First off, I would like to apologize that the Bulk Search tool at NameBright was not functioning properly over the past few days.

As a few of you have mentioned, we were using another process to do a initial pass on the domains to check their availability that did not hit the live registry. This secondary process failed recently, so I have updated the Bulk Search tool to always do live checks against the registry. I have confirmed that it is working on both of the lists provided in this thread by @Vlad Tarabasa and @dordomai .

We strive to have the fastest and most accurate Bulk Search tool available for COM, NET, CC, TV, and ORG. I am sorry that this tool let you down recently, but it has been updated and should be both 100% accurate, and faster than any other tool out there! Please let me know if you experience anything different.

Thanks @JBubba for explanation and fast fix!

I would suggest changing the thread title from
"NameBright Is Playing Games"
into a somehow less obtrusive statement

Just my 0.02 $
