I've noticed that Name.com offer domains for $5.99 for the 1st year. How reputable is this company? Also, how much does renewals cost?

The renewal rate for rates for .com / .net / .org / .name / .info / .biz
/.us domain names are:

1 year = $7.99
2 years = $15.54
3 years = $23.21
4 years = $31.08
5 years = $38.85
6 years = $46.62
7 years = $54.39
8 years = $62.16
9 years = $69.93

I haven't tried this company, but you can check reviews of it here:

Thanks for that Shan. Anyone else had any dealings with this company recently?

I've never dealt with them nor have I ever come across any other domainer that has. I'd tread carefully going with an entity that is not tried and true.

i started using them last month after I bought a couple of names that were regged there. 5.99 is the price. No minimum.. no .20 icann fee. Great deal and I haven't had any problems either.

try them out, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

8 minutes and I've already been proven wrong. Glad to know you've had positive experiences so far. Just curious, have you had to contact customer service at all? How is your control panel?

Have not had to contact customer service.

Control panel is easy to use, comparable to most registrars. I like that I set my preferences to a default Name Server so anytime I register it is automatically done. At Godaddy I have to change them everytime I register.

Wasn't trying to prove you wrong Fonzie, lol, just thought I'd chime in since I have a few names there.

Give it a try.

Take care,
Dave

Just an update... I did have to contact customer service, as some available names I was registering were showing as unavailable.

After navigating the phone options, I got a live person on the phone within minutes (not toll-free though). Problem was diagnosed quickly and I got all my names that I wanted.

I am now registering anything new there, with the exception of .net (fabulous $5.15) and .info (godaddy $1.99)

Will most likely work on transfering all my upcoming expiring names there too. I am amazed that with such a great domain name (name.com) and low pricing that more domainers don't know about them. Or that it took me so long to find them myself.

Happy domaining,
Dave

I've been using Name.com since February of this year and have had to contact customer service once several months back regarding an issue with .biz and .us domains randomly unlocking. Their customer service timely responded to all inquiries and resolved the matter immediately. I've not had an issue since.

Also, their push system is simple and immediate.

I've gone ahead & also purchased a few .com for $5.99, good price considering the raise in prices with the other companies

I have not had any problems so far. I've been a customer since August 2005, and managing more than 200 names at name.com.
