A professional baseball team as well as a group of individuals...? I'm wondering if there is any value to this website, and if there are any possible trademark laws that I may be affected by? Would there be any violation in getting in contact with the sports team to inquire about a purchase?

The only way you might be able to use it is if you are using it for disseminating public information and you make no money from it. That means NO ADS. So if you were just a super fan of the Indians, you could likely use it. Otherwise, like others have said, it's worthless because it is a trademarked name.
