I am working on a gameserver with a buddy of mine, and we are adding an addon that requires mySQL. I have used this addon many times before, but the thing is I don't want to pay the company $10 a month for 500MB of Space and 1GB and bandwith. They told me I can use my own hosting, and I did. So I was configuring the addon, and it says it can't connect to the mySQL. Here is how it looks:

NOTE 216.14.121.82 is the IP to my hosting

PHP:
arp_sql_host "216.14.121.82"
arp_sql_user "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_pass "REMOVED"
arp_sql_db "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_type "mysql"

arp_table_users "_users"
arp_table_property "_property"
arp_table_doors "_doors"
arp_table_items "_items"
arp_table_keys "_keys"
arp_table_jobs "_jobs"

I think the format may be wrong - here are some possible ideas on what I thought could be right:

PHP:
arp_sql_host "216.14.121.82"
arp_sql_user "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_pass "REMOVED"
arp_sql_db "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_type "mysql"

arp_table_users "users"
arp_table_property "property"
arp_table_doors "doors"
arp_table_items "items"
arp_table_keys "keys"
arp_table_jobs "jobs"

PHP:
arp_sql_host "216.14.121.82"
arp_sql_user "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_pass "REMOVED"
arp_sql_db "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_type "mysql"

arp_table_users "tsrp_users"
arp_table_property "tsrp_property"
arp_table_doors "tsrp_doors"
arp_table_items "tsrp_items"
arp_table_keys "tsrp_keys"
arp_table_jobs "tsrp_jobs"

If you can help me out, it would be much appreciated

Should it be localhost even if my game hosting and server hosting are on two completely different servers? And which one of the above is the right format?

Ah, two different servers.

Well, try:

arp_sql_host "216.14.121.82:3306"

If that doesn't work, maybe contact your host asking what the IP is that you can connect to the mysql server(and what port - above, 3306 is the default mysql port) - small chance it isn't the same.

As far as format, take a look at the database tables, do they have a prefix?

I don't think they have a prefix - I am using phpMyAdmin for it - I click on debaclex_tsrp and under it are the property and gun tables, etc. I will post a screen shot asap

Have you tried connecting to mysql server manually using a client with the login details you've provided in your post (preferably from the same machine on which the script is running)? were you successful in doing so? Also, what is the exact error message you're getting?

Here is the screenshot:

And dman_2007 - how to a try to connect using the client? I do not own either server, I just pay to rent them. And also, the error message I get is something along the lines of:

[ARP]The server is currently malfunctioning. No data will be saved

I see it when I get in game

Debacle, try:

Code:
arp_sql_host "216.14.121.82:3306"
arp_sql_user "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_pass "REMOVED"
arp_sql_db "debaclex_tsrp"
arp_sql_type "mysql"

arp_table_users "users"
arp_table_property "property"
arp_table_doors "doors"
arp_table_items "items"
arp_table_keys "keys"
arp_table_jobs "jobs"

And btw, based on that screenshot some of the tables listed above don't exist.

This is how the normal config file looks:

arp_sql_host "localhost"
arp_sql_user "root"
arp_sql_pass ""
arp_sql_db "arp"
arp_sql_type "mysql"

arp_table_users "arp_users"
arp_table_property "arp_property"
arp_table_doors "arp_doors"
arp_table_items "arp_items"
arp_table_keys "arp_keys"
arp_table_jobs "arp_jobs"

Keep in mind that theres a config option SOMEWHERE that allows external IPs to connect to your mysql db (i remember when i was trying to get my scripts running on localhost - my local machine - to connect to my mysql hosted on godaddy, i had to whitelist my IP address on godaddy's end). not sure if this is applicable here, but worth a look.

Your original settings look correct to me.

Your MySQL server is a cPanel server. By default cPanel won't allow remote access to MySQL databases. Login to the cPanel server (using username debaclex), click on "Remote MySQL", into the "Host" box enter the IP address of the server you are trying to connect from and click "Add Host". Now try connecting again.

If it still doesn't work, then one of your hosts probably has a firewall which is blocking access. You'll need to ask them to open port 3306 for your IP addresses.

The arp_table_* settings are probably the table names (or maybe suffixes), and therefore won't affect whether you can connect or not.
