While at least one of the customized video channels, Ripe.TV, will be a .TV this MySpace move is seen more as a "joost killer" than a Me.TV killer, because Joost is a software download, while MySpace will stream. And, pro content channels on Joost, like Nat'l Geographic, will now also have a MySpace channel... with much of the same content.
Of course, this MySpace announcement, 2 weeks after the Me.Tv launch -that juxtapositioned My Space, in several ways, can be seen as a competitive reponse. It appears the best/most popular UGC producers on MySpace will soon be given a custom channels... it part to deter them from migrating to Me.TV.
