This is a fully developed site:

http://myaustinwedding.com

We've received an offer to buy our domain name. We know nothing about the prospective buyer at this point. Our site is currently getting about 50 unique visitors a day. 1.5 visits/visitor and almost 4 pages/visit. About 65% of traffic comes from direct address / bookmarks. 33% from search engines. We know nothing about selling domain names--we are willing to sell, but don't know how much to ask for.

Thanks,

Mark Pittillo

Are they interested in the whole site or just the domain? Did they ask for a paid appraisal (possible tipoff to a scam)?

He says just the domain; and no, he didn't ask for a paid appraisal. He just asked what we were asking for it.

So far so good... the domain is worth more as a developed site of course, but you're well positioned on Google for the keywords "my austin wedding".

However, you don't appear until the 5th page of results for "austin wedding"...

I really don't want to set a price, not being that familiar with that sort of market.. BUT once you DO name a price, if they counter by asking you to get a paid appraisal from a specific appraiser, it may be a scam. They are affiliated with the appraiser and are just trying to get appraiser's fees.

Just domain, I don't see a high value though. Most likely mid $xx? I see more potential with a site then just the domain. Ask them more about their developments.

Thanks for the advice. Is there any way you could guess at a ballpark figure? We really have no idea ourselves about our market. We were thinking of asking for $1500 and accepting considerably less (like $750 minimum). Does that seem reasonable to you, or at least not insane?

Thanks,

Mark Pittillo

OK, after reading Miss Flora's post, maybe it is insane.

That is exactly what I would have suggested doing, considering the domain has already been developed... it has some history. $1500 sounds reasonable, take $750...

BUT, had the domain never been developed, reg fee - low xx...
