If you don't know already, I'm a rapid site developer, focusing on product domains, and more specific in the fishing/outdoor niche.
I create 3-5 sites per week, and the majority of them are "product sites".
I've been trying to decide if I want to turn this into a business or not.
Here is my concept:
1) Administration and Hosting
I want to be able to edit all of my sites from one place. This requires each site to have a unique identifier, and to be on the same hosting account.
2) Data
All data comes from affiliate networks, such as: Connect Commerce, Commission Junction, Pepperjam Network,e tc.
The data is easily imported into the product site through the adminstration panel, categorized, and instantly added to the site of my choice.
3) Additional Features
a) Questions & Answers
This is a good way to get more keywords on the site, and provides user interaction, keeping them coming back.
b) Videos of products. I used a custom coded Youtube fetch script to find a relevant video for each product.
c) Articles
This helps with SEO, and the admin panel allows you to keep writing articles to keep content fresh.
4) Auto Promotion
I have integrated with the Twitter API to post the 3 featured products to a Twitter account each day.
These sites will be created in just minutes. The only manual things that have to be done are:
- Find the product feeds
- Install the site
- Update settings with keywords, seo variables, etc
- Change a few graphics and colors
- Submit to Google Webmasters
With this method I have gotten 2 versions of this up so far:
www.fishingreels.ws has a static configuration, meaning I could move it from server to server without any issues.
www.fishingkayaks.co has a database configuration which allows me to clone this site very easily
(I launched fishingkayaks.co yesterday, and it's already indexed in Google.)
The third version will work from a central domain, and allow me to add these sites in minutes.
So my questions to you are:
1) If I made a business out of this, would you use it? I can see domainers with solid product keywords wanting to use it.
2) I'm thinking of making it a subscription service, based on an annual payment of how many sites you want. What would you pay? per site?
3) What other features would you like to see?
Thanks for your time,
Dave
