My design site http://www.webdesignvermont.com isn't in Google, and hasn't been spidered by Google. I purchased a text ad on a PR7 design site and it's been there for about a week.

Any suggestions?

I heard it's not a good idea to use the services that autosubmit to Google.

Try submitting your site to a lot of directories.

It's a bad idea to submit your site to Google because it'll only take them longer to index/review your site this way.

The method you used of getting a link on a PR7 site is good. If it's been a week since your site was linked, then it should have appeared on G's index already. Did you check that your link was SE-friendly (not a redirect or not a nofollow), or that the page where your link is on is spidered/indexed by Google?

I didn't. I read in a SEO article not to...not true?
it's not true, actualy the term there is not "submit" but "suggest" google and humans in google will not know it if you don't suggest, using "submit" or "add" is also kinda "marketing" or "salestalk" term, you suggest there's no guarantee of listing though but you made your point to google, also suggest it on yahoo, and dmoz won't hurt your seo.

usually not "submitting" (or the correct is suggesting) is coin termed by most blackhat seo as an excuse because they're (mostly) offering top position/placement in google but their site themselves are not listed on it. :imho:
pardon me Momo :) i typed it first but you came in first

The best way to get your site spidered quickly is to link your web site to another site that is already indexed, related to your site, and is spidered frequently. Having your site mentioned in news releases, blogs, and so on can get your site your web site spidered very quickly, sometimes within days.

I looked into doing that, it seemed quite complicated...also it says it's only worth doing if you have 100 or more html files, which I don't. It's just a small design site.

The only thing I see different about the link is it has a "sponsored" class in the <p> tag. Will Google not follow that?
