My site is now #1 on MSN

If you do a search for "bug art" on MSN my www.bugposters.com site shows up as #1. How cool is that? I only created the site last month. I'm happy, my SEO is working.

Thanks for raining on my parade. As for traffic, just a trickle so far because the site just got there to that spot. Not many people actually search for "bug art" but there are a few. What's funny is that while "bug art" is a phrase I optimized for, it isn't one of my primary keyphrases. *shrug*

Sorry Jimmy, I wasn’t trying to rain on your parade. MSN has not been kind to me. I have had keywords listed on the first page of MSN that drive me less traffic than the same keywords listed on page 20+ on google.

I am fully aware that it is on Google that we all strive for high rankings. This site is #12 for the search "bug posters". So that isn't all that bad...considering it's been up for a month. :p

Come on guys, well done James, and ofcourse this is a great success. MSN is still decent, and being ranked #1 with a keyword is not that easy, and well number 12 is google is very good as well.

since jon already rained on the parade, i'll splash around in the puddle a little.

i would have to agree that MSN is easier to get to the top on. my site is #1 for the term "daze" with no promotion or special optimizing tricks (and #120 on google, though it was #4 on google last week) -- and a few of my clients are #1 for their respective keywords as well.

edited to add: but congrats on getting #1 for your respective keywords. regardless of ease, its still nice to be on top.

My parade has been sufficiently "doused". I will no longer be happy with MSN rankings (even though it is bringing me visitors) but only tout my Google rankings. Maybe you guys will still manage to bring a cloud or two, but that's ok. It's all in good fun...

To me, SEO is correct coding and effective use of key phrases in header tags, image alts and text.

msn algorithm is crap, like most microsoft stuff, and as for the ranking...you can make a site rank 1 on the first day it was indexed
