As you know, the 2007 GeoDomain Expo, the largest and most important gathering to date of the owners of the most lucrative properties on the Web, will be held November 15 to November 17 in San Francisco, CA. Associated Cities is to host a live auction presented by Moniker. The list of domains on auction has been posted on their site.

Just in case, I tried running my domain checking script on their extensive list, to see what will come out of it. To my surprise, I found that a great number of .net domains where still available! CityGuideBooks.info for instance, which is being offered with an opening bid range of $5,001 to $10,000, still had the .net available! Other examples are Samoas.us or SantoDomingoDominicanRepublic.tv which also had the .net tld free! This last one is being offered with an opening bid range of $100,001 to $250,000!!!

So, I got the best of these domains and created the site GeographicalDomains.net. There is a widely accepted rule among Domainers of the 10% .com to .net tld price ratio. Therefore all domains with more than $1 reserve on the GeoDomain auction are being offered at a 10% price of their entry bid! Others have very low prices.

More info on GeographicalDomains.net (Hurry up to visit there and get the list of still free domains before others do)

I don't. ALL domains were once free, till someone took them.

SantoDomingoDominicanRepublic.tv My opinion, but this is barely worth reg fee.

I too ask high initial prices for my domains, but normally realistic. Moniker got this one and others very wrong! :Samoas.us registered TM :?

But Wot do I know. :gl:

Exactly! That's exactly what I thought. I mean, no one argues the 10% ratio rule from .com to .net, and about the choices of domains, who am I to question the pros of the pros. According to their own words: "the largest and most important gathering to date of the owners of the most lucrative properties on the Web"

;)

But the rule is based on selling prices not asking prices ? :)

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in response, on vacation.

Anyway, upon reviewing of the list I only saw ONE major city domain in the list with a .com, OklahomaCity.com. All of the others direct type-ins are international cities, which in my opinion changes the ball game a little. As for the CityNameHouses, CityNameFla, CityNameETC and .NET, .INFO, .TLD is also a completely changed ball game... What I really love how Associated Cities flaunts 85 direct type-ins such as NewYorkCity.com, LosAngeles.com, Chicago.com, Dallas.com, SanFrancisco.com, Nashville.com and Atlanta.com but only OklahomaCity.com made it to the list, you wonder why? Because the value of a CityName.com is HUGE and we aren't talking $100k here, we are talking $$ millions here. But either way, I am VERY interested in seeing what cost of some of these domain names will go for.

As for my domain name, well I am looking at leasing it so I don't want to disclose it just yet.

Take care,
