Many questions for few answers but let’s talk Bu$ine$$ !
Some of you has experienced NJ and have an idea on how this thing works. Personally, I will talk about things that I experienced without explaining theories about NJ available on the Net.
As said above, it’s firstly a business. NJ has developed partnerships with registrars (read forums for more details) and allows NJ to catch some domains during their redemption period IF they are not renewed. Knowing that, there are 3 possibilities for the USER (so-called by NJ but prefer the term “End User”) of NJ services:
1) Several End Users bid on the same domain. Means that this domain will certainly go on auctions IF this domain is not renewed. This is THE Classic case and here we can understand that NJ set up a minimum reserve bidding price.
2) You are the ONLY bidder/End User to bid on this domain and this domain goes on auctions. GREAT, are you really thinking that you could bid and win the domain name you are the only bidder/pre-auction winner??? The answer is Yes if you are lucky and No if you are unlucky.
In the case you are lucky, NJ will allow you to be the one and only bidder on this auction and let you win the domain name without completing a NJ “destroyer”. On the other case, NJ allows itself to set up to TERRIFIC reserve price for a domainer and you will be obliged to bid against NJ even if you won the pre-auction by being the only bidder of the domain name! Observed reserve price is generally near the selling price of the desired domain name to an End User. The question is; how much NJ will pay to get this domain name if you lost this face to face auction...
3) Any End User of NJ bid of this domain name and it is a good and sellable domain name. NJ will let it go except if it is a great generic domain name. Once again, how much NJ will pay to get this domain name.
The above points would be interesting if domainers how experienced the point 1 AND 2 could react on this thread. But this is a part of the NJ Empire which is driven by one guy.
