I'm more curious to hear your vision for the names. What inspired you to reg them?

Right... With out going into all of them, let me take a few that I really like.

boatsforsale.mobi - a classified type site where users can post boats for sale for a reg fee.

pilot.mobi - directions from a to b, with maps, and hopefully realtime gps navigation, possibly including listings for restaurants and stores in the users local area with directions to get there. Shop owners would pay an advert fee for being listed.

tagsale.mobi - the same as pilot, but people having tag sales would be able to list there location. Much more of a niche and would probably be harder to get the word out.

builders.mobi - A listing service for builders in peoples local area

These are a few of my ideas for some of my names. Some I'll use to try and recoup some costs for development. Any thoughts greatly appreciated! thanks scandiman

You do have some nice .mobi names. I like builders.mobi, can be used for homebilders, mobi builders... Also I like unsolved.mobi, xml.mobi , landlord(s).mobi, engagement(s).mobi to name a few. I see lot of potential for development.

Well, unsolved.mobi would be good for unsolved mystries, crimes etc..or unsolved problems

xml.mobi , it is a well know extension, an info site for xml, xml services, tools etc..

landloads.mobi, a good real estate or real estate investment site.

engagement.mobi -- match making/dating, engagement gifts ( diamond rings??), engagement planning or business engagements..

I like the banking ones. They're a bit long but sound good. I haven't checked but I bet they get average searches in Google. You could develop them into directories that list the banking service described in their URL.

CharlieA... those were actually some of the names I was hoping to sell to recoup some costs for development. But after reading your post, maybe not. I didn't think of that for the banking ones, though it seems fairly obvious seeing that I'll be doing that with some of the others. They get great searches in google. thanks CharlieA

BoatsForSale.mobi is interesting to me as well. Very important to have a full sized site when viewed by a PC user. I think of the convenience of snapping pictures of your boat with your cell and sending them into the listing. From the business perspective, I would offer the listing for one year but the seller would need to verify every couple months that they want to keep the listing. If there is only 3 boats for sale then the site will lack any credibility so I would suggest figuring out a way to pull ads in from another service to bulk up your content but it needs be kept fresh.

Avoid the temptation to discount your service because it is not a .com. Rather, upsell it because it is a .mobi. Your customer is the seller. Play to their convenience of placing the ad with their cell phone. Of course you need to market the site to consumers as well. Piggyback on existing marketing methods used by competitors and of course build your site with some killer SEO.

I agree, domain names in dot mobi has to be specific - either specific to a category or subject which is suited for a mobile domain or location specific... subject of importance to people on the move... as if i am seated I would rather prefer browsing on my pc or laptop instead of burning my cell phone bill / time and eyes

I am seen a hell lot of people in Maine and other coastal areas to go extreme lengths to find a boat ... this kind of site means great convenience for them ! In fact I have also booked my names keeping the above objective in mind.
