Today, while doing my normal around the house things. I get a knock on the door telling me that I need to vacate the premises immediately. I was like, um no. They then proceeded to tell me that the house is being foreclosed. I said, I was the renter and I have been paying on time for the last 6 months.

Well tough poopie on me.

Bad news, I have to be out by Sunday. Badder news, this stinks a$$ and baddest news, the dude (landlord) won't give me my money back.

I am in dire need to make some money today so I can keep a roof over my head. Does anyone know where I can get some work?

Anyone have any suggestions on what I should do?

That sucks. Normally you can stay for up to a year without paying. He/she must have been withholding payment for some time!

yeah, I wish that were the case. I just don't want anything bad happening to me, if I do turn defiant. Someone told me I should just stay and not go anywhere since I have been paying. I would rather be safer than sorry.

Unfortunately, if you dont vacate the authorities will become involved.

All the best in finding new accommodation.

Cheers

Yeah so if anyone knows of anyone needing work done or whatever in where I can make at least a couple hundred, that would be awesome. I can get a cheap hotel til I get this straightened out.

sorry to hear this, sounds like your landlord withheld some pretty important information from you, if you don't currently have an emergency fund or a credit card where you could throw first month and security on a new place maybe you have a friend or family member nearby you could crash with until you get things sorted? If you own anything valuable maybe pawn shop? If you could come up with some of the money maybe get a room mate to split costs, craigslist has some listings...

The temporary job service is a good idea as it allows you to work for different places and possibly be hired full time if you find a job you like and they like your work ethic, 2 days is not a lot of time so I would probably focus on a friend or family member temporarily if possible, good luck.

I just recently cut up the credit card, I still have it though just not the card. I aplied through a temp service today, they told me they'd call me on Monday. As far as the family members. None of them are in a position to help or let me crash.

I am also looking up emergency housing and whatever else I can think of. Thanks all for your support. Yeah, I am trying to sell domains but no clue how to get more for them. If I can raise about 150, I can stay in a hostel for up to 2 weeks. I still have my student card, nice benefits.

Take him to small claims court. It should be a pretty easy case unless you paid him straight cash. As for your current situation, thats real rough man, there must be some kind of recourse for people in your situation.

You're the second person I've heard of in the last couple of weeks that this has happened to :(

I'm sorry to hear about this. Craigslist has a ton of great opportunities to make some quick money if you need it. The "gigs" section (stay away from the adult ones) have some good work.

Best of luck!!

I have heard this for 10th time atleast in last 10 days. Many of my friends are going through same situation who live in US.

Best thing is to get a small home for ourselves and pay the installments rather then rent to this landlords. Atleast in some years the house will be yours.

If you've been paying your rent on time, and he has not being paying his mortgage on time.

I would take what ever is valuable from the house and make your rent back.

If he had told you he could not pay the mortgage then fair enough.

Take him for what he's worth.

My friend recently had the same problem,

Paying the rent but the landlord had not told them he was not paying the mortgage. (they had 2 days to move out)
