Hello,

A few weeks ago, I randomly checked the site, and discovered it was available for registration!
So I tried to register the domain name and got the error message: "You currently do not have enough domain credits to complete this transaction... " I asked support to reg it... but now i see that the domain is taken by another person. How to be sure people won't steal my idea during a reg.?

Best,
Russel

I paid for this domain name

Same here. I successfully registered a domain on Halloween. The next day, I received an email from Godaddy pasted below. A moment ago, I checked the WhoIs and it's still showing up as GoDaddy registered on Halloween. I'm did get the mentioned credit, but am waiting on the refund (of $5). At least they paid me for stealing my domain.

Hello,

Thank you for your interest in registering XXXXXXX. We are reaching out to let you know this domain has been removed from your account because it was unfortunately awarded to you in error.

We understand this is not an ideal situation and would like to apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

We realize more than just our apology is needed, so we have placed a $25 credit on your GoDaddy account that you may use for additional domain registrations or product purchases. We are also in the process of refunding your original purchase.

We appreciate your understanding.
Kindest Regards,

ccTLD Team

Honestly, I saw it as a win for me. The domain I got would have been easily confused with another domain. So, I was having second thoughts on registering it. But, I would have developed it anyway.

to never ask them to reg on your behalf, more importantly never share the name with them.

i highly doubt somebody stole your idea based on a terrible domain name imo.

I also have such experience 4years ago when I registered UK.co.uk successfuly and in about an hour later, they reversed the domain and appologised that it was in error. Though my money was refunded instantly even before the message. It was a very painful and memorable scenario for me.

I bought 1.date and 8.date from GoDaddy. I paid money. Got Confirmation. But second day they refused to give me domains. Though it was their fault still it took 7 days for refund. And yes they do not place any credit to my GD account. These kind of things happen again and again and we all are helpless.

Tbh and blunt. If you think you have a great idea, NEVER share it with ANYBODY! You risk getting fooked over....

In this case, you should of simply gone to another registra and bought it.

On the up side. This particular isnt domain isnt worth anything, to lose any sleep over.

Godaddys system is always saying certain domains are available when they are not. Then they take your money and refund you later. In the meantime, you end up wasting a lot of valuable time. Useless company.

Sometimes I check and see it'a available but when I try to "add to cart" then they said that it's not available. I also see that some domains was listed as premium domain and they're always available when checking.

I had the same problem with godaddy. a certain .com was paid for and then i got a message that it was taken.

I second you, it happened with me too on GoDaddy.

Sorry someone stole your idea. Guess we learn from our mistakes.
@gtldomainer still not interested in your crap domains. There is a place to post your junk for sale.

I have lost many domains buy just checking their availability.
Some that I need to develop, once .com is taken, I go for the .net and later the guys start sending me mails with offers.

There are lots of search box hackers.
Other registrars review search logs, on what clients are looking for.

Always check with Whois .com if you get an error at dotster netfirms mydomain domain.com..

One day I got mad because I had an error telling me the name was not available anymore... Looked at whois .com and noticed that the domain was registered under my name. I was like... How... I haven't paid for it yet... It was in fact in my domain .com account. Oh well!

*Note double letter domains are in high demand. Maybe it was on someone else list and that person was also waiting for the $1.99 promo.

Never wait around on registering a domain. This is the domain industry, where there is always someone one step ahead.

I prefer building a list of hundreds of available domains and take the time to think about which one should I register. Then I am ready for .com deals. I have wasted so much money registering crap domains when I was new.

Some names will appear available because of registry glitch. It happened to me a lot with .uk and other cctld

There's no way uk.co.uk was available
