If I owned this I sure wouldn't be advertising it unless I was looking for an immediate sale.

MTV has a history of UDRP/WIPO cases involving similar. That's not to say you're in any trouble, if a WIPO comes you would usually simply transfer the name to them; so don't be scared.

As for value I would say that's a bit of a crap shoot, maybe $25.00 or a little more on eBay if a few bidders are not concerned about the obvious.

There is a company that owns mtv2.net that isn't involved with "mtv".
They are into stocks or something. What if I was to turn it into a murder tv site?
would that be safe? Those are my keywords in sedo for it.

I certainly think development is a very good idea. It will lessen any TM issues and establish an alternative identity for this name. That's not to say MTV may not come calling some day but your plan to develop will greatly increase your chances they won't.
