More than 1.5 million ‘.nl’ domain names registered

On 25 May 2005, the number of registered ‘.nl’ domain names passed the 1.5 million mark. The ‘.nl’ domain is now firmly established as the world’s third-largest country code Top-Level Domain. Only ‘.de’ (with more than eight million names) and ‘.uk’ (with more than four million) are bigger in numeric terms. What’s more, there is no sign of growth slowing. In 2002, the number of names registered went up by 17 per cent; in 2003 the rise was 25 per cent, and in 2004 it was 33 per cent. In the first few months of this year, the rate of growth has again exceeded 30 per cent.

It was only in November 1998 that the 50,000th ‘.nl’ domain name was registered. The 100,000th followed in September 1999, the 250,000th in March 2000 and the 500,000th in November of the same year. The milestone of one million ‘.nl’ domain names was passed on 19 December 2003.

On this moment 28 July 2005, 12:37 ( GMT+1 ) there are 1568378 domainnames regged!!

Thats correct .nl = The Netherlands (Holland)

Since 29th January 2003 there are no longer geographical barriers for registring a '.nl' domain name

Evibe will place the domain on our domicile and register the name on the
customers name.

impressive amounts. I guess .mz (for Mozambique) are in a few hundreds maybe...

The problem is that Domain Registration Authority for mozambique is held by a local university and they charge $100 per .mz domain. So, only a few businesses and organizations actually own a .mz domain.
