Boy, I would say this auction was a big FLOP! Several crappy domains in the Live auction, a couple 4 WORD domains even! There must not of been that many people in the room, as one bidder won most domains (oversee.net).

There were several times the auctioneer sounded like he was begging people to bid and this was on domains with No Reserve!

It seemed on the higher end names, just nobody was bidding and if they did bid, it was Just For Fun, as the bidders had a good clue on what the reserve was.

I had several domains turned down that would of done well in the live auction. 3 made it into the Silent, so we will see what happens to them.

So what was or is the problem........

Charging to bid!
No Online Auction with the live event!
Domain list comes out 1 day before the event!
High priced domains, and several Not So Good ones!
Moniker seems to Now have weekly auctions! Overloaded.
Autioneer not saying the domains Correctly.

I'm sure you can think of some more, but those are the ones on the top of my head.

That's pretty interesting....

I think the auction is to long.
To many domains in the list. (people don't want to go thru that many names)
Moniker is hosting way to many auctions.
etc...

As great as the auctions have been over the past few years, I can see another level which hasn't been reached yet. Would involve more active and targeted communication with companies around niche business domains that suit their interest.

Much of the auction participation thus far has been the base of domain investors. There's a really big, untapped market. Long way to go.

Most definitely in it's infancy, said before there will be quite a few contenders out there now, honing their presentations- aiming at specific industries professions-linking with trade shows - Geo Names/Travel expos etc - and hopefully learning from the successes and mistakes of the forerunners.

Can only be good for our "baby" business. :)

Yep, I even gave up looking for some of names I had submitted to some of the auctions- so I am sure potential buyers were also frustrated by the never ending listings.

I see that Monikers way to try to drum up buyers for the auction finishing Thursday is to email those sellers with names in the auction - please explain to me if I am missing something. :-/

Who is usually there at the auctions and or online buying these domains? Endusers or domainers or a combo of both?

Thanks.
