At least they asked!!! This auto-sweep can be dangerous. I submitted some domains to multiple auctions. Each auction had its own different reserve level for that auction. While a low reserve might be ok at one auction, it could be a disaster at another auction.

I haven't heard any reference to "auto-sweep" before? What is the process?

Hope it goes well for everyone, but have my doubts as I've heard from so many buyers that they will not pay just for the privilege to bid.

A lot of the domains for pubcon were swept from all previous auctions. My account rep asked if I wanted that and described the process in a general mailing to his customers. I replied that I definitely did NOT want to be automatically swept into pubcon.

It happened in another auction (Macau) to me described here:

http://www.namepros.com/392818-macau-casino-auction-list-posted-4.html

In the Macau auction two of my domains were automatically submitted from previous auctions without asking me to do this. I am fine with it for Macau since I did not tell my rep to NOT automatically sweep into future auctions. I did say to NOT do this for pubcon, since I didn't want my high-end traffic domains swept into the pubcon auction.

I agree, I think it is a major stumbling block and needs to be resolved quickly.

A successful auction will surely outweigh the registration fees. :imho:

"Clutching at straws" seems to be the current vogue. :)

Anybody else think that the likes of Sedo may well have plans for an auction (s) after learning from all the mistakes made from other auctions events :?

Sedo already does have a premium auction through GreatDomains. There is one going on right now (I have one domain in it). They even have a live auction that appears to be irregularly scheduled.

The other point about reluctance to pay for bidding is a real issue with end-users. With resellers it is not that big of an issue and is just the cost of doing business. For end-users that have interest in one and only one domain it just might be an issue.

I was going to submit to this auction but I think the TRAFFIC auction
http://marketplacepro.moniker.com/auction/detail.html?auction_id=187
should be stronger so I am going to hold off and start on a list of a few for it over the next week, good luck to anyone that has names in this, hope you guys make some good :$:

Can names still be submitted to the LV TRAFFIC auction? Moniker's website shows the deadline to submit was November 5th. I wanted to enter names, but I was working too hard on all the other auctions where submissions had to be made about the same time.

December 31st I was told from my rep.

Speaking of that auto-sweep from previous auctions, it looks like Moniker screwed that part up too.

I just got a confirm from my rep that lists my official reserves from an earlier auction which were lower. I explicitly told my account rep that I was refiling with new reserves and to not sweep my old auctions into pubcon... well they screwed up that part.

Fortunately I keep excellent records...

I wonder how many other people around here are going to be "automatically screwed" because they didn't tell their rep to not sweep.

I was aware of the not so Great Domains auction, thinking more of a domain roadshow similar to those currently doing the rounds.

I still think that even for resellers the entrance fee removes at least 50% of potential bidders from the equation, probably a lot more.

I like that "not so Great Domains auction". :hehe:

I also agree with the 50% resellers auction comment. The argument in favor (besides revenue for Moniker, which is valid) is that it cuts back on fake bids. Maybe there are other ways to validate bidders without a bidding fee. To play "Moniker's Advocate" here, they do need to protect the integrity of the bidding process to keep it from turning into another eBay domain auction. This has to be balanced against what appears to be an auction process that cannot attract end-users and has difficulty attracting resellers.

i still expect hundreds of names to be added to the auction list for this event which begins tomorrow but, as of now, the list still remains at 1183 names. if anyone notices an update to the master inventory list, please let the rest of us know.

To be exact, there should be nearly another whole list added. 1817 more!

My rep said they always go to auction with 3,000 domains.

As for why the Whole List is not out 2 days before the auction is set to start... That Ticks Me Off!

My first and LAST domains I will be submitting to Moniker. What a JOKE! I personally think they are getting over there head. It seems like they have an auction Weekly now. They must take everybody from the office, as nobody replies there, which keeps taking Moniker down and down from one of the top registrars. The thing that really gets me going is that Monte said he was working on improving the customer service, the email issues etc. This clearly has been put on the backburner as well. If I could pull my domains out of the auction, I would.
