Let's just hope that the PubCon list is up shortly and full of great domain names! With such a short time left til the auction, that seems to be the only way to pull off a successful event. The longer it takes for Moniker to publish their lists for their auctions, I think it just leaves more chance for misunderstandings like the cowboys.com incident. With this approach, it leaves no time for a potential buyer of a domain to properly evaluate the potential return on their investment.

Very upsetting that Moniker has not made the list public yet! What a JOKE! Man I wish I did not submit my domains. GRRRRRR

I am beginning to develop the same sentiments. They encourage you to set low reserves to get in the auction, don't advertise, and the auction becomes a blood bath for the sellers...

Is it possible to *remove* domains from an auction PRIOR to the release of the master auction list without getting penalized big bucks?

Everyone should sign up for the auction and pay the fee, as there is surely to be some great deals on some killer names :hehe: :$: :$: :$:

Moniker has an exclusive agreement, so NO you can not remove any domain you have submitted. Plus you have to ASK for it to be removed After the auction if it does not sell. I think it's like 30-60 days After the auction that Moniker still has the rights to sell the domain.

I knew about the exclusivity agreement. It doesn't apply if you are not selected into the auction. So I guess I was asking *before* this selection is made, do I have any ability to say "please do not select my names for the master auction list", thereby self-eliminating myself from further consideration?

I guess I am thinking more about pulling my names from the next TRAFFIC auction. I would not try to sell them in another venue, just pull them and sit on them as opposed to selling cheap. Again, this is *prior* to master auction list selection.

I believe you can request that your submissions be withdrawn prior to publication of the master list without penalty. I think you are bound to the TOS upon selection into the auctions, and as of now, your names have not yet been selected. Why hurry though, at this rate, you'll have til next week to withdraw!

From Monikers Agreement:

1. TERM OF THE AGREEMENT: Seller grants Buyer/Seller Agent the exclusive right and authority to sell the Name(s) for one hundred and twenty (120) calendar days from the date of submitting/declaring one of the Name(s) on the ADDENDA to this Agreement or sixty (60) days from the conclusion of the first auction taking place after the submission/declaring of the Name(s) on the ADDENDA, whichever occurs later (the โ€œExclusive Sale Periodโ€). The ADDENDA to this Agreement shall consist of, but are not limited to, those items submitted by Seller for selection and acceptance by Buyer/Seller Agent to secure purchasers. This exclusive right and authority to sell period will automatically renew at the end of each term unless Buyer/Seller Agent is notified by Seller in writing within 15 days of expiration that Seller is terminating the Agreement.

Once a Name is submitted by Seller, whether by ADDENDA or otherwise, the Name becomes subject to this Agreement, whether or not Seller is notified that the Name has been selected for the auction. If, however, Buyer/Seller Agent notifies Seller that a Name has not been selected for auction, Seller will be permitted to withdraw the Name from submission.

Thanks for the correction. It's all the more reason to pay their FEE and join the bidding and pick up some cheap bargains.

Of course if everybody did this then it would be a great auction for sellers!

On top of the thousands of attendees at the conference, the silent could be a nice surprise. I just don't get the lack of effort into this auction. Looking at the schedule at PubCon, domains and their importance in marketing seems to be a topic of emphasis. Why then would Moniker not put more effort into this event. Is the Webmasterworld conference not as popular as it appears? With such major sponsors and keynote speakers, I got the impression this was the conference to be at if you are doing business on the internet.

I have done business on the internet since 1996 without attending a conference... I was thinking about going to one of these just for fun though.

I was kind of thinking about going to the Vegas TRAFFIC auction next year just to meet a few people face to face. I live there part time so this would be a good candidate for me to attend. My guess is that the human networking part is the most important part of the conference.

As for pulling names from a particular auction, I suppose asking nicely might be productive. If everybody agrees to changes in the terms of a contract then no problem. I am undecided at this point whether I want to pull things. I have asked to have one name pulled in the past when several others were submitted.

If you ask your rep to withdraw some of your names before the list is posted, they may honor your request with no penalty. It can't hurt to ask.
I, too, have never attended any of the conferences but will be in Las Vegas in mid-Jan so I plan to stop by the Internext auction at the Palms. I have requested and been invited to the TRAFFIC event in February and have not decided whether I will attend yet.

Auction list is up and what a list. Moniker will probably break all records with this auction. Alot of high priced real estate, but, weren't alot of these passed on before?

Well it looks like I have 3 domains that made it. (EDIT) So Far! Not sure if they are Live or Silent auctions.

#320 ConsumerDefense.com
#563 FullTimeMother.com
#746 Managed.org

Just got an email from my rep that stated.

"That is a starter list. It has 1183 names on it. We always take 3000 names to auction."

i noticed the list seemed unusually short for such a big event. i will frequently check for list updates and post any changes here.

My Moniker rep just asked permission to add some of my names that didn't sell in GEO...told him yes. I hadn't submitted any to this auction, but now I have an interest in it. :)

At least they asked!!! This auto-sweep can be dangerous. I submitted some domains to multiple auctions. Each auction had its own different reserve level for that auction. While a low reserve might be ok at one auction, it could be a disaster at another auction.
