Mod_rewrite question

don't know where else to put this. Im using mod_rewrite to make my urls like example.com/articles/this&20is%20a%20page. I seen urls like example.com/articles/this-is-a-page. How can I make the urls like that? Im a noob when it comes to mod_rewrite.

%20 is a space.. You just have to make the links to those with dashes..

that won't work because Im using mysql for it and if you do that, it can't find the page.

Use the ID so it can find the right thing.
www.example.com/articles/428-The-article-name
Like how NP does it.

Also, for a script I made before, I put 'archive_title' in the database. So that I could format the URL's how I wanted and strip out characters like spaces.

well Im doing this for SEO friendly urls. I found out how to do this thanks.
