Hi i want to make http://jokecabin.com have SEO friendly URLS i have looked at the mod_rewrite function here

http://www.devarticles.com/c/a/Web-Services/Make-Dynamic-URLs-Search-Engine-Friendly/

but as im not a programmer im not to sure how to implement it

instead of >>> http://jokecabin.com/joke.php?p=787

i want something like >>>> http://jokecabin.com/title-joke-goes-here.htm

RewriteRule ^joke-([0-9]+).html  joke.php?p=$1

would change http://jokecabin.com/joke.php?p=787 to http://jokecabin.com/joke-787.html

but if you really want http://jokecabin.com/title-joke-goes-here.htm then you would have to make some change in your PHP code

You will have to do some querying to obtain the title ("title-joke-goes-here".htm) in the page that is pointing to the particular joke page. This would normally be something like an index or list page where you have a list of jokes with links to them, eg. go to joke-title-one-xx.htm , go to joke-title-two-yy.htm. Then the rewrite rule will convert the request to return the correct page based on p=xx .
