I think the point was to buy one or two in the aftermarket verses several dozen hand reg's. Take 20 hand reg's at $45 - that's $900. Or spend $450 on two good aftermarket domains and only have 2 renewals every year.

The cheapest lll.mobi and llll.mobi that are logical words/keywords
are going for about $500 each.

I get your point though, unless I can definitely develop or sell them, I'll need to pay a lot in renewal fees as compared to one good .mobi (or two). I'm quite sure I'll be able to flip some of them at least, will clear the $900 deficit hopefully.

NameBio has 49 pages (10 per page) of .mobi sales. Not bad for a one year old gTLD. I'm quite happy with the way this has performed.

Some namebio sales for LLLL.mobi

welt.mobi $2,660
sadd.mobi $200
1781.mobi $146
jena.mobi $132
gera.mobi $132
just.mobi $510 (bargain)
zong.mobi $3,500
tofu.mobi $700
freq.mobi $75
pics.mobi $23,000
scum.mobi $315 (!)
arab.mobi $5,100
preg.mobi $9,000
beat.mobi $3,000
goon.mobi $211
amen.mobi $500
pink.mobi $5,000
rude.mobi $750 (!)
dish.mobi $1,500
egon.mobi $166
vail.mobi $5,000
mp3z.mobi $500 (I wouldn't pay reg fees for this)
save.mobi $10,600

And this is only from the first few pages.

I wouldn't doubt whatsoever that there are some good LLLL.mobi acronyms left out there... That may be the way to go for the time being.

I regged SSRI.mobi (an acronym for a type of drug used to treat depression) back in the March-April timeframe -- 3k+ overture on it and it's even gotten type-ins.

If you find names like that, definitely don't hesitate to reg them.

I don't agree with you, even though you're partially correct.

Have you seen it's latest avatar?
Counts incoming links / searches (ovt) / alexrank etc.

Pretty good in my book now.
But I agree automated results have no value.

Anything that uses alexa as a metric is a waste of time.

I think what Neo meant, was that rather than spend $45 per LLLL.mobi over 5 years, spend $200 on a single aftermarket name, in example. IMO, you'd be better off with a single $200 name (i.e. a low quality LLL.mobi or brandable) than with 5 LLLL.mobi, despite roughly equal costs.

Hammer. Head. Nail. :yell:
Best two friendly and helpful .MOBI Moderators™ on the planet, IMHO. :music: :xf.love:

Think of the exponential savings here, folks ... and, mark my words, the .MOBI Scrap Pile™ (lowly .MOBI domains that were once registered and will be dropped) is coming ... and it's going to be HUGE! :guilty: :imho:

Great advices, thanks again ...

Thanks all. It's been educational for me.

I think I will back up this with one or two gems from the aftermarket.

That way, all bets are hedged. Except for .mobi itself ;)

There IS one way. Sell enough names to pay for the others, make yourself break even and you hedge your bets on .mobi itself!

Yup, will try it.

And actually it is doable.

These are the last of dictionary+local ref I could find.
Though there is one more local word I just might register.
