Control - 1. to exercise restraint or direction over; dominate; command.
I had mentioned in another thread a conversation I had with an industry insider. The one word that stuck in my mind was control. I have to say that when I think about this word's construct and depth it is quite possibly the answer to virtually any of life's equations. Example, power + money=? ... control. It certainly wouldn't be the is (=) in every equation but it assuredly looms constantly in the background.
So, what does it mean ... control? This is what .Mobi is, this is what its future will be about. It is why those involved in MAG and its founders started this TLD. They want to control the direction and future of telecommunications; its products and services. Having their very own TLD gives them a large part of that control. One could certainly achieve mobile content with any other extension. So why create a new TLD .... ? Because they can now dictate what filters through and control the revenue streams.
Like any idea it has the chance to succeed or fail. A lot can be said positively or negatively about the mTLD and how long it will take to reach either of those ends. What about me? I'm a believer in ideas. Who wouldn't want a little control?
"I'm not afraid to fail as long as I don't fail to lose control."
