.tv Million dollar premium

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
was researching a bit and came across a $1,000,000 premium, expires in few months and we'll see if the owner renews it. :tu:

I tried pulling up the name in recent threads and zero results, but the name is not that bad..

Are there any other premium names that are higher than 50k or above?

thanks

-Jason

As I remember Games.tv is a premium - $75K or $70K - maybe I'm wrong

Just checked at Ahead.tv - it is $70K

I highly doubt that it would be accurate to be a $1 mil/year premium though. What's the name?

I have to ask. What is the point of this thread and how it originated?

I found "a premium" at 1,000,000 will the rest of you tell me what "other premiums" are available.

Why are we so secretive about the "name".

Is it news.tv which expires in Oct ?

The only names I can think that might be worth some are global.tv or lasvegas.tv but I thought everything was repriced in 2007.

Whatever, it doesn't really matter. It just seems an odd way to go about things.

Even if you were the current owner, renewed in time, and later sold the name, the profit wouldn't get you out of prison on those stalking charges:yell:

The thread is referring to .tv domains where the registry charged $1million for the first year's registraion of the name:o Not exactly the type registrations where you see the shopping-cart, when you're placing that initial registration, say "Add an additional year to this .tv registration and get 2 free .info domains!":p & NO Godaddy.com coupons offering you 15% off your next year's renewal:yell:

Well, I'm stumped.

If we're relying on Ahead's pricing, I believe that data is polluted (not site owner's fault), and even more so after the 2010 Goldrush.

If I rely on historical data I've gathered every week since Demand's original rush (May 2007), I don't see any names in that range. And many of the names in the 6 figure premium ranges have been negotiated down, including News (from $500K to 25K if you check owner's financial filings).

IMO, if it's a name held by 2 of the "early" investors (I won't mention their names as a courtesy), I highly doubt they'd drop anything since their names are near standard renewal and imo, they are both well-funded.

I did find several with a $100,000 renewal (based on Ahead), but not many expiring soon... Sylar, the 7 figure renewal you saw: is it based on Ahead's pricing? or some other piece of info you have? Sylar, regarding your other question, I have seen several renewals priced at & above $50K.

Sylar, care to share more clues?

I'm not really too sure i get the concept how can a registry do that?

MrRhee,

Was referring to the initial set-up. Yes, I don't think a single one went for a million. When it cost them under a buck to ICANN, they quickly negotiate a price below $1m to whom they "sell" (reg it to) ;)

No one said it was "right", but nothing in the laws or contacts that prevented it. If you want the name that bad, you'll pay it. Many paid $xx,xxx and some $xxx, xxx to initially grab the names. It's "supply and demand", plus a lot of folks thinking .TV would become bigger than it did (a few have done well getting $ back), and taking things to the extreme. If you have the $, care to spend it, someone will take it...every time:sold:

it would be cheaper to start your own registrar then register it....
$1500 instead of 1 mil

That it still exists is.

The only thing worse than "NO DATA" is "BAD DATA".

Interesting point. I think the public (and .TV as a whole) would be better served by hitting a parked/blank page instead of the current HTML offering. IMNSHO
