Microsoft Using .MS TLD

"Microsoft is using the .MS top-level domain, assigned to the Caribbean island of Montserrat, for its Web 2.0-flavored Popfly project. You can get your own .MS name if you really want to โ€” there are no restrictions on foreign ownership โ€” at $180 US for 2 years. As of this writing microsoft.ms is available."

Interesting, shows that big companies do use obscure ccTLDs.

Also...

Sorry, Microsoft Popfly doesn't support your browser at this time

Please use Internet Explorer 6.0 or newer, or Firefox 2.0 or newer to access Popfly.

What's up with that- they're acknowledging the existing of a non-MS product?!

Surprised they don't just buy the island.

I own numerous .ms domains. $180.00 for two years is a rip-off. $39.99 per year at GoDaddy, much less if you are a GoDaddy reseller.

Still a high price compared to .com .net. .org .info .us domains. Also it seems like Microsoft's support of this domain is lacking if they didn't buy microsoft.ms.

Yes, but great hacks like:

whi.ms
stea.ms
wha.ms
cra.ms
hare.ms
stru.ms
foa.ms
maxi.ms
pri.ms
swi.ms
tri.ms

More of a novelty and fun thing for me.
