Microsoft sued over Bing name

It seems MS was aware of this before choosing its search engine's name.

There are those who believe that Microsoft came up with the name Bing for its refreshed search engine after staring at the word "Bingo" for several days and then removing the last letter.

However, a small entity in St. Louis has decided that the name Bing was, is and always should be, theirs. More...

BTW, have you watched this?

Hopefully MS fights it and does not settle.

For the web design company, this lawsuit is just an expensive lottery ticket.

If you type 'Bing.TV' in google - you should get a link to a project of mine that we were working on well before the microsoft bing thing came along

I'm not crying though - that's just the way it is. Good luck to them.

However, I am VERY pissed off that if you type 'Bing.TV' in the Microsoft 'search engine' called Bing.com they have never heard of my website. YET Google show it first.

I don't mind them moving into my area - I DO mind them not even recognising that Bing.TV exists!!!!!!!!

I'm even asked if I'm looking for 'Ming.TV' - that's offensive!

A little OT, but doesn't Bing.biz look too old-school for a web design company?! :|

I would have thought that Microsofts lawyers would have gone those all the current trademark records for Bing with a fine toothcomb BEFORE they even made an offer on the name, never mind spending $80 to $100 million marketing it.....they're not idiots.

There can be a thousand trademarks for the word bing as it also depends on what it is being used for

Microsofts TM use is

Word Mark BING
