Is this a domain to avoid?

"Mesos" is the currency used in some online game called MapleStory, which was developed by Wizet, a South Korean Company.

I could not find a U.S. trademark, but that doesn't surprise me.

I think I know the answer but am curious what others think.

Depends on whether or not you have a legitimate, non-infringing use in mind...
If yes, possibly game-on.

I was looking at the domain because of its CVCVC qualities and pleasant pronounciation, but when I saw that MapleStory stuff--well, that's just like a big red light. (I'm not at all familiar with that online game, though it looks extremely popular.)

That domain would be getting traffic for gamers in search of mesos (game currency), no matter what the owner would be placing on the site.

Does Adsense allow for blocking TM infringing ads?

It probably isn't worth the hassle and probably explains why the bids are so low.

There's also an abandoned application for Mesos at uspto.gov, as well as a PR
for it:

No idea if the company in question is still using Mesos for their product. But it
could be something to possibly avoid if you'll still push through with your plan.

Seems like a lot of trademarks are associated with this term, some dead, some alive.

My purpose would not have anything to do with any of them, including the MapleStory stuff.

The main thing is to not infringe on any of the live ones, especially. It's going to be a risk no matter what you do cause people think they deserve/own stuff they have no rights to... as long as you are careful not to infringe, you may be ok. Good luck whatever you choose to do!

My gut told me that this domain wasn't worth the potential hassle.
