I bought this one back in January 1999 and have held onto it since. It's the city I grew up in with about 50,000 residents. Gets about 100 visits per month through type-ins.

I have the .net version too and would like to hear appraisals for that as well.

I had always planned on developing a city directory or city restaurant guide (the city is packed with retail), but never did much with the domain.

Great name! I would definitely develop it. Any city with a resident population around 50 thousand would be worth the development. Good luck with it.

I'm looking to sell it off. Any thoughts on what a geo-domain like this would go for?

Its hard for me to say what the right user would to pay for .com verion of that name. However, BajaCalifornia.com was sold for $95,500 in 2007.

Here are my personal experiences and my opinions:

I've actually purchased a few city.com's lately. I recently purchased one domain of a fast-growing city.com with a population of 16,000 (gets about 200 uniques/month) and a stagnate city of 40,000 (about 100 uniques/month). I bought the pair for $5k which was probably fair given their limited parking revenue. They are both suburbs which limits them a bit.

I also paid $7000 for a city.com a few weeks ago that gets over 2000 uniques/month. The difference being that domain had been used by the Chamber of Commerce before they let it go, it's a "free-standing" city v. being a suburb, has a university with 14,000 students, hosts the training camp of a professional football team and is 1 1/2 hours outside of a major city.

There are lots of things to take into consideration. I personally put a lot of weight on the # of uniques. Good luck with your sale.

Niamod - Do you buy city sites with the intent to develop them, or only to park for revenue?

could be a few thousand, ask Rick Latona to include this one in his newsletter, GEO names usually sell very well...

Actually, I sent it to Rick a few weeks back and he wasn't interested. I'll post it on the domain sales page, so it will be up for grabs later today.

I'd be happy with low $x,xxx for MentorOhio.com. It is a very retail-rich city and getting pretty congested. So, it definitely has some retail worth to it.
