I want to start a thread that I am interested in but also hope is beneficial to everybody, particularly internet newbs.
1. Say today you buy a brand new domain for resale down the road. What are somethings you do immediately to increase the domain name's value? How long do you start to see increased traffic
2. What are some things you can do the second you buy a brand new domain to increase traffic (hits to that domain).
3. Say you buy a domain exclusively to park, market affiliate programs, etc...what are some things you do increase traffic and potential sales earnings.

When I buy a new domain for potential resale down the road, I do 1 of 3 things. If it is a new domain, i develop the site somehow, start collecting reciprocal links, and submitt to search engines. If it is an older domain, I park them, include the links in my other site's reciprocal link's page.
For example, I bought a nice brand new domain name a couple weeks ago 'ToolbarProfits.com' So, I decided to develop it with a simple e product. I didn't park it cuz it had no incomming traffic.
For used domain names, I like to park them with either SEDO or domainhop, but what i REALLY like to do is point them to an affiliate program and then submit the forwarded domain to a Search engine, or list the forwarded link on my reciprocal links page on my other sites. For Example, instead of parking Nicetraffic.info....it's now pointing to an affiliate's page. I've also got my brand new domain GraphicIntuition at an affiliate's page....by doing this (instead of parking) i can keep tabs of stats better. For some reason when i park domains i don't get as much traffic
To increase traffic, I use two pieces of software from Axandra. Internet Business Promoter which is a swweeet search engine submitter or Arelis, a reciprocal linking software. You can find similar free tools all over the net.
As for increasing traffic to parked domains, right now i have no clear cut strategy, maybe someone wants to field that one? I've actually experimented with SEDO in the past by using Google adwords. There were times i'd make a 3 to 1 profit using sedo. For example, one time i had a domain, freegrab.info. I actually started a Google AdWords Campaign to get clicks. I would pay around 5 cents a click, get 50-60% conversion rates, and be paid $20-$25 by the end of the month having only spent around $5 to $10 dollars. I got so much traffic SEDO sent me a "are you cheating" email. They paid me, but I pulled the campain. It seems like SEDO doesn't want to see you get that much traffic so soon.....
