Hey People.

I'm curious to know your opinions on the prospective value of the domain name Media.com.co

It's 5 years old, having never been developed. Developing it is certainly an option, since I'm in no rush to sell it, but if I were to list for sale I'm wondering what sort of value this domain might have.

Thoughts?

Thanks

.com.co seems a little redundant, it reads like it wants to be .com but out of necessity, it has become .com.co. Who the hell is responsible for such a ridiculous extension? I didn't even know this codspiffle (yes it's taken) existed before I read this post. All I can suggest Mick is to reg it for 10 years and tuck it under your bed with any other oddities you find interesting. The 'Media' part is perfect and gives the name obvious value. It's just the extension seems, well, redundant.

Agree. I purchased this a while ago. I was unaware that this "redundant" extension was even out there.

After hitting Namebio and DNsalesprice, doing a search for other .com.co records, I discovered a couple of decent sales... namely: Softeware.com.co for $26,400, Mobile.com.co for $15,000 and Casinos.com.co for $10,200. I was shocked. Who knows what's in store for Media.com.co Truthfully I'm curious to see where the chips fall in a couple of years.

Appreciate your thoughts Matt.

Were you the first person to register this domain ,and how much do you have into it ,because if your in this cheap I see no reason why this domain can not be as valuable as these other two domains.I dont know too much about this extension but if you can gather up more sales data from other sales ,I think you can present this domain to a major media company for at least 10-15 k , remember there is only one media.com and a lot of other companies would like to have a one word-er ,if not so much for people to type in ,but it sure looks good and more prestigious getting this in your inbox.

.com.co should not be confused with .co.com (a private subdomain).

.com.co is for Colombia.
Colombia, like many other countries, used to have domain names at the third level only, so .com.co was the norm for companies until 2011 when .co was released.
Other third level extensions include .net.co .org.co etc (modeled like other countries).

Presently .co is marketed as a global extension, while .com.co is promoted as the TLD for Colombian entities.
So there are still users for .com.co but your buyer will have to be Colombian most likely.
The keyword is good, but I find it too generic perhaps. To me it's not clear what kind of entity will buy it and for what usage. Not sure about value.

Thanks Ben. Not the original registered owner, and I purchased at a fair price. My thoughts exactly. Thanks for your review!
