Been pondering this 1 myself kuba,

The argument for, is compelling, as its true the more me.TV sites developed the more recognition that is achieved for the extension as a whole.
Also the teens of today are the buyers of tomorrow so if the tools can hook them in and get them used to the .TV extension as opposed to .com then its all good for the future.

I have always thought in most areas that any publicity is good publicity and I think the same applies here,
As long as the tools dont pigeon hole the extension as a social network only then we will benefit from me.TV for sure.

I still think and this is only my opinion, but I still think that .TV is a natural progression from the internet to television so develop a great .TV channel, get the word out and then sit back with your toes in the sand and a drink your hand as the profits stack up...

Best thing about me.TV is R. Rosenblatt he is a born entrepreneur. and a proven one at that.
Tap into his plans and you should make money....

...there are more tools to come but personally I still think the real money is to be made in developing a unique .TV site or no not site but tv station!

Ill tick the "good" box

Way too early for a poll like this, IMO...... Wait until they have fleshed out the platform and let's see!

I don't think its particularly too early for a discussion like that. On the contrary, we need to decide now, whether we want to accept a "cookie cutter" solution like Me.TV or if we should go down our own road and develop truly unique concepts with their own feed rather than tapping into one source.

It's today where we set the precedent for the future of .TV in regards to feed providers...

On one hand, you dont want the general public to expect a "myspace" type site when they go to a .tv site... but on the other hand, it is far better than most parked solutions.

I will say "meh" on it right now. The wife loves hers and is busily adding pictures and video's of the kids. I personally hate that users can't contribute except in response. That basically stops the platform from being open in my point of view because in order to make my site sing, I would have to be on there all day adding content.

I would much rather get the base layed down and then the users can run with the concept without a whole lot of intervention from me.

So when that rolls out, I will be setting up a lot more of my tv's. Until then, I just don't have the time to work with the me.tv tools.

Plus the templates suck due to no way to modify them.

They are definitely good for the .tv extension. If you read the article I wrote sharing my thoughts on the Demand Media conference, then that would help to explain why. Unfortunately, I cannot link it directly here because of the advertising rules.

i get more practical,
for now me.tv tools dont offer me what i need the most,
to be different from other through templates and customizstion of them.
Also they dont offer utf8 support so many languages are not supported.

:)

ps: i really love ur website and i m regular visitor ....

Springboard

For people like me(newbie) it is a good springboard into the .tv waters. I am experimenting with several(not fully developed yet) and think if you want to sell it is a good start.

Of course as time goes by, one would expect to graduate from the entry level inti a full blown site down the road, but just getting my feet wet helps in my brainstorming and flexibility from "parked" pages.

Anyway, it helps in the long run as a starting point.

It's ok. As stated above, pretty basic, no "Myspace", but better than a parked page. I think they could have easily put a little or effort into it. It's just not "wow", but "oh", ok.
