As you may already know, eBay is planning on removing the permission for sellers to leave buyers negative or neutral feedback, from a sellers point of you this can be seen as a major put off.

WOW! I had no idea. what? what? WHAT? WHAT? HUH? o.k. somebody buys something from me, paypal helps them with a chargeback, so now they have the item and the money and then for laughs they leave me with a negative, and I can't respond plus it will damage my Rep, cause suspicion for buyers, thus less sales and ebay will become nothing but a BIG SCAM BOARD that once was a nice place. It will be the wild west. Nobody will want to buy anything from ebay. You have taken away an equalizer, or the equalizer. WTF?

Feedback Changes
eBay is taking away sellers' ability to leave negative feedback for buyers, and among our readers, it appears this is a hot-button issue. However, eBay has addressed some of the concerns sellers have around the Feedback system. Here is a summary of the changes:

* Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers (beginning in May 2008).

* Buyers must wait 3 days before leaving negative or neutral Feedback for sellers with an established track record - "to encourage communication." How about buyers will not have the opportunity to leave a neg feedback because they can't: the script won't allow it until both buyer and seller communicate and it is documented, wouldn't that be fair?

I think this boycott is likely to happen, The small sellers hardly have a chance of survival in the Ebay market place now.

I have seen times, when a boycott was in order, In certain aspects of domaining, It doesn't seem as domainers will join together when getting the crap kicked out of them, by certain companies, That's a shame.

Not sure how effective a boycott will be, depending on its scale. Regardless alot of sellers are unhappy..

Perfect case of being between a rock and a hard place. This isn't surprising though, as eBay does this type of thing once in a while. The market will complain, stage a boycott or do one thing or the other.. but eventually it all settles down and everybody goes back to eBay.

Think i may join this boycott!!!

I've just had a letter from a solicitor threatning legal action for ebay fees of £2.03!! Even though it was paid last November and my account status is fine, Ebay say there is nothing owed, but can not stop the letters being sent out!!!

I'm just wondering if this could the start of end of Ebay!! Ebay needs US the buyers and sellers to make their business work, if they dont have US they have nothing, but I guess with the market share they have and PAYPAL it would take something out of this world to bring it down!!! That's my moan for today over!!! :)

Exactly.. they make a big show of lowering listing fees, yet raise FV fees!

I used to have some success selling on ePier.. no listing fees and low FV fees if I recall correctly.. may give them a try again.

EDIT: There are no charges in browsing, viewing, making offers, or listing items on ePier.com. The only charges that are made to the seller are modest final value fees (when the item sells) and any auction enhancements a seller can choose to receive.

Waiting for a good rival to show up, something will come along, it has to.
Ebay have been getting greedier and greedier.
Imagine the influx of scammers who would keep on getting away with it if we cant leave neg feedback!

Now here's something I wasn't aware of with the new ebay rules changes, PayPal may decide to hold up an eBay seller's funds for 21 days (under certain circumstances)!

eBay's FAQ about the21-day hold states: In a small percentage of cases where it has been determined the risk of dissatisfied buyers is higher, PayPal may delay release of the payment funds to the seller until the buyer has left a positive feedback or 21 days have passed without a dispute, claim, chargeback or reversal filed on that transaction.

The FAQs state that PayPal considers a number of factors in determining a whether a transaction may have a higher risk of dissatisfied buyers, including the following:

Seller's % Positive Feedback in the last 30 days
Seller's Detailed Seller Ratings in the last 30 days
Final price for the item
Shipping & handling fee
Seller's eBay tenure as an eBay member
Seller's total number of Feedback
PayPal will release the hold when the earliest of the following occurs: the buyer leaves positive feedback; 3 days after confirmed item delivery; or 21 days without a dispute, claim, chargeback, or reversal filed on that transaction. (PayPal said if a buyer leaves a negative feedback but does not initiate a dispute, PayPal would release the funds to the seller after 21 days.)

Now that would definitely suck...

In other news, I've been waiting since November for a replacement debit card from PayPal.. Numerous emails and two phone calls later, they have twice assured me that it would arrive in 7-10 business days and I have yet to receive it (been 2 weeks since the last time they said it).. They do have the correct address.
