Appraisals both high and low are welcome. Just got this name after jumping through a bunch of hoops for many months.

I just don't see 5 or 6 figures for a personal name, sorry.
Otherwise, I may as well reg Fernando.com and expect some rich guy to pay me 6 figures just because it was his name? C'mon, let's be realistic!
snoop said:The name is worth 5 figures solely based on traffic revenue, fair enough if you wouldn't pay anything much for it yourself but to think this name is worth only a bit more than average 4 letter .com shows almost no understanding of domain values.
BigCharlie said:I'll tell you how I got this name. Last summer I developed a list of a few hundred names that would obviously be home-runs. I typed in the name to see which sites looked like they were run by professionals, and which sites could possibly be owned by someone who didn't know the true value of the name.
Then I narrowed my list. A few of the names on my list actually had dead links, or content that seemed meaningless. This particular name had a dead link. I emailed the gentleman and he got back to me a few weeks later. He gave his price, and it wasn't a gift. The thing to keep in mind is that 99 percent of these people know that the name is valuable, so if you send an email asking "how much" or offering a few hundred dollars then you probably won't get a correspondence going. You should always offer a few thousand on life-changing names because that is better than most, and if the name is in fact for sale then you will have a chance.
We had a little back and forth negotiation and he wasn't budging from a certain price. Of course, I didn't have the money available anyway, but I can jump through hoops when I have to. During this same period of time I got a response from someone who owned a three letter name, and this deal seemed to move pretty fast, the only catch was that they wanted to close the deal during the first quarter of 2006...for tax purposes. This gave me a few months to round up the money for this purchase. Once again, the owners of these names are not fools, but if you can get something for a discount to what it is worth, then you can pay the big money to get these names and still have a cushion.
The three letter name was closed in January. I immediately tried to resurrect the deal with Mark.com...though I thought for sure the price would no longer be valid....even though it was a lot of money. Just to be sure, I sent an email from another email address with an offer 25 percent lower than what I believed to be his sticking point. He wasn't moving. I agreed to the deal and starting the ball rolling with an Escrow.com transaction. I had to keep it alive for almost three months, which took it's toll on me because I was close to having all of the money a few times.
At the end of the day I got the name, and I know what it takes to get these names, so I am not saying it is easy. You have to be prepared to spend real money. Also, it could have been any name that made my short list. It just so happenned that this name, and the three letter name, are the ones that inspired me enough to pull it off.
Most of these names are not for sale, so even if you find a needle in a haystack you will still have to step up to the plate and make a good payment. The seller got a fair price, though I will make money on the name. He is happy and said his accountant about fell off of his chair when he told him it was sold. I will only tell you that the price I paid was XX,XXX, just like the three letter name. Somewhere in that wide range.

BigCharlie said:Looks like just under 1,000 type-ins per day, which is a little more than my three letter name.
snoop said:there you have it, this name should be able to make $10-30 per day.
I would think that this name could be sold straight away to a domainer for $40-80k
I'm in total agreement w/ Crooky's assessment as to value. Personally, I'm attracted the term"mark" as it applies to trademarks and think it would be a nice, tight name for a marketing, advertising, ptomotional or graphics firm that specializes in product branding, labeling and corporate identity. Alas, your 3 figure sake would, more likely, come from a new music sensation or someone in entertainment who was knocking down their first millons and who wanted a vanity name. :hehe:Crooky said:Good luck with the name. Don't expect millions though...as others have said, it is a 6-figure name, IMO lower-mid 6-figure at best. Any higher would be an overblown figure, which you might get but I highly doubt it.
